The Chappelle Theory (Link)
January 21, 2004
Season two of Chappelle's Show aired. The debut episode featured the infamous "Racial Draft" sketch, where Tiger Woods is declared "all black" and chosen by the black race with their draft pick, and the Wu Tang Clan is declared Asian, and drafted by the Asian race.
After the show played, Chappelle was seen having dinner with friends at Pastis in New York City's fashionable meatpacking district. When he tried to pick up the tab, embarassingly he found out that his credit card had been rejected. He tried several other credit cards, and found that surprisingly, they were rejected too.
After his last credit card was declined, Chappelle received a call on his cell phone. Chappelle confided to his friends that the voice on the line advised him that "this is only the beginning if you don't do what we want — try your credit cards now." Chappelle, clearly rattled, told the wait staff to run his credit card once more. When it did, this may have been when Chappelle began to realize the seriousness of the situation.

It is just horrifying what happened to Dave Chappelle. I love his show, and I think that it is the best one ever screened in terms of comedy and spoof. But obviously other people had different opinions about the sketches being made by Chappelle (for fuck's sake, kill that motherfuckin' bitch Oprah, and Cosby The Cripple). I am really sad that the third season has been canceled, and that Chappelle had to stop doing his famous show. I mean, knowing that people have such problems, I think that I can count myself as "entirely contented with life".
This is definitely worth reading, in spite of that it is pretty much to read, to know about the cancellation of Chappelle's Show.
Note: To follow the whole story chronologically, just click "introduction" on the first screen, and after reading each page just continue reading by clicking "next page" until the end of the entire theory.

Yea this has been posted before, I recognize the site. I remember I didn't bother to read through all of it either. I'd direct you to another thread but the search function is "broken" if you haven't noticed.

It was messed up after the server problems earlier this year (or possibly late last year - it's all going too quick these days).
My thoughts on the theory haven't changed since it was first posted. The whole thing is somewhat plausible up until the bit about Oprah doing a special broadcast to Dave Chappelle's home. In all fairness I can't say for sure that the events described on that site didn't happen but I highly doubt it. More likely, Chappelle found the pressures of the show too draining or grew fed up with being given censorship and/or creative notes from the network.
The theory relies heavily on the notion of wholesome personalities having dark and violent sides that are constantly hidden from the public. The idea that Oprah is seen as a humanitarian, so of course in reality she must break into people's houses with a couple of armed heavies to bully them into doing what she wants. She's seen as a powerful person in the entertainment industry, so of course she must be able to pull off something like a special broadcast that went to Dave Chappelle's home and his home only. I don't buy it.
That's not to say people like Oprah might not have tried to use their influence to tone down Chappelle's Show or even get it taken off the air but if they do have serious objections to the point of interfering with the show, I doubt they would have used tactics like the ones described.

The whole things a fabrication. There used to be a link on the site that led to a cafepress page selling shirts and shit. I can't belive you two didn't know about it.

yeah that's eventually what caused the Wayans family to walk out on their show In Living Color in the 90's... I have always seen Chappelle's Show as a modern day version of that show. btw, I read there is a Homey The Clown movie in the works.

Does anyone at all believe that someone can possibly cancel/uncancel someone's credit card in the space of 10 seconds

until Chapelle comes out and says it's all true, fake.
Mon Aug 21, 2006 3:21 pm
if that true, thats some fuckin scary shit

Well, there are always some stories that are kept hidden from the public, so it could have all happened. So what is Chappelle going to do now? Besides his new DVD "Block Party" and the three episodes screened in July, what is he going to make fun about?

They could have been canceled before, and could have been planed to be uncanceled in particular following the call to him.

I think Colin or Mikki posted this back then, I was going to post a link to that thread here last night but I couldn't find it either.

That website was posted here at least a year ago, and followed up quickly with many parodies such as
www.cosbytheory.com
As for the "theory" I still think there's 3 dudes that live in surburban Little Rock or some shit laughing their asses off because they made this entire thing up.
