so what do you guys think of the competition?

I think you should NEVER EVER EVER post NBA 2kx stuff in this section of the forum. Regardless of "compare & contrast" because that's all anybody ever does with the two games. There's a forum called "Other Games" for this stuff. And there's also no doubt in my mind which game looks better. (OMG look at the hardwood!)

Personally I think, although overall it does kind of look nice............ (the screens that is) when I watched the gameplay video, all I saw was EA sports style 'ice skating' and bad player momentum when transitioning from running to a dunk/layup.

Something I've noticed with next gen games, both Live and 2K is that the player models, or more specifically the faces look highly detailed and real........... but not like their real life counterparts. Check out Kobe/Iverson/Gordon. The level of detail in the faces out-weighs the likeliness.

Same goes for almost every screen and video I've seen of Wade in the NBA Live next gen coverage. I'm a gameplay over graphics person, but there is definately room for improvement here.

Cam I used to think that too. And I think I've figured out why the players faces look abit diffferent. The producers are trying to put more emotion into the players faces. Like when TMac (or anyone) goes up for a dunk, he has a fierce look on his face. And when they make the player move their mouth's or scream or look surprised (like the Gordon picture with Carter covering him) thier face distorts making the overall head shape and face look different and off a bit.

Anyways I've seen these pics before, you can see veins on Carters calf muscle, and look at the damn hardwood. Gorgeous. And they finaly have fans wearing team colors (I don't knwo if they had that last year on next-gen). Overall the graphics are pretty good, but I don't know if they're better than Live's. But w/e, gameplay is where 2k SHINES, can't wait.

as far as the players go, the faces are a little too cartoony for my tastes. especially in the close-ups

Tradition...Marketing...etc. 2k was exclusively for dreamcast in the beginning, and I bet that hurt them first off, plus Live had been going yeeeaaars before 2k had. And look at the EA Sports marketing as opposed to 2k sports. I can think of probably like 3 commercials already for Live 07, but none for 2k. Plus EA keeps feeding us media, 2k takes its sweet, precious time. Look at all these people hyped about Live this year already. Whereas, we only have 5 or so 2k7 vids, none for current gen.

The lack of a pc version hurts it in terms of an online community more then anything.

I've basically given up on current console games for now anyways. Bring on the PS3.

I don't know about the other consoles, but on 360 I'm pretty sure nba2k6 outsold nba live 06, at least here in Australia that is....that's the trend I've noticed for the 360 & from what my mate at EB has told me....

X, alot of that had to do with the fact that nba 2k is now cheaper then nba live, and also with information available so readily, anyone who read the reviews of both games would have to be a complete idiot to buy nba live (thank god for the 7 day return policy ) .

just wondering wats up with the bluriness of certain elements of the screens? and also the lebron face looks awful

i never wrote that i played 2k7 or live 07 i said overall easports has better graphics but gameplay wise its 2k. That goes for 2k4 2k5 2k6 and i m sure its going to be same for 2k7

actually in the 2k7 videos, you can still see sliding, improper foot movement (the video with kobe bryant, doing the spin move, was horrible), and the gameplay looks the same as current gen 2k..
