Damaged DVD discs

Postby 8-Hype on Wed Aug 09, 2006 6:57 am

I am in urgent need of help. I was in Holland, and had a spindle case full of DVDs with me. I wanted to show my cousin some Rap videos and also songs on his DVD player, but strangely his player didn't play the files and said that the file format is not supported, although I played the discs a lot of times at home, on both DVD player and computer. Then we tried to do the same on the computer with the discs that couldn't be played. And same thing there.

Now I am at home and I have a problem with all DVD discs that I inserted into either DVD Player or computer when I was in Holland. Two discs get recognized by my computer (one video disc, one music disc), but the files on these discs are unplayable and uncopyable. The third discs doesn't get recognized. All the other discs that I had in the spindle, but didn't use, are absolutely alright. And some of the video files, but only some, are playable on my DVD player, but not on my computer. The discs all worked smoothly before I went to Holland.

So what's the point? I tried Multi Data Rescue, but it won't help. Can you please help me with this tragic situatuion? A lot of my favourite files were on those discs (3x4.7 GB of files) and I just can't help myself out, technically as well as emotionally . Any help is appreciated, thank you in advance.

Might have something to do with how Holland uses PAL encoding, while USA uses NTSC. Sounds like a far fetch though.
What I have heard of is that it might not show the picture at all or possibly just in black and white, but never actually ruining the disc.

Can't help you with it, sorry, but I would suggest that you Google it and see if you find something describing a similar situation and what they did...

Yeah, exactly. There is no possibility that it ruins the disc. I don't understand what is wrong.
