SLAM 100

Postby Cloudy on Sun Aug 06, 2006 9:59 pm

Has anybody gotten the magazine yet? It'd been hyped so badly by SLAM and finally it's out, and now we know who's on the cover! It's that damn number twenty-three again.

Chill, it's Jordan! (Y) There's this really nice article about what Jordan says about the game now and also lots of stuff about the pass. This issue really gives you flashbacks of the old NBA. Reader's Poll is full of funny things! Kaman of course got the worst haircut and Kobe is on both the most favorite and least favorite top 3 list.

You guys should get this mag, it's a collector's edition... Just a little disappointing that it isn't a double-issue, no free gifts, nothing special other than the contents. :(

My last issue of SLAM was the LeBron one back at 2004. I've stopped buying magazines cause in my country, they sell expensive especially SLAM. This issue may be my latest though, haven't bought one issue in years.

I bought the damn thing because I was bored when I was waiting for a train. It's shit. Not the shit, just shit. I hate those wiggers who write this and I hate them with passion. They write about how influental they are, but influence isn't always good - they are always putting gangsta attitude and showboating on the piedestal and are a big part of everything that is wrong about this game.

The worst thing in this issue isn't the article about Marbury, it's the story about how that famous AI cover was made. They tell us how AI is a total jerk, an egoistical moronic fuck, and yet they stand in awe in front of him and suck his cock simply because he's such an iconic figure. A rebel. Because he's an idol to all of the young kids in ghetto's, a walking advertisement for keepin' it real. How many of those kids are blessed with elite athleticism, freakish wingspans and abnormal basketball talent? How many of those will earn tens or hundrends of millions before they hit the age of 30? Chances are - none. And yet he's an idol, something we should worship and look up to it. He's keepin' it real with his stupidity and narcissism. He's showing and teaching us how you can make it big even though you hate to practice, you ignore your teammates and you rebel against higher authorities. Yes, Slam is the real deal. Slam is making our world a better place.

Yeah I have to agree that their gangster type of writing might get annoying sometimes. Gangster, ya that's why they like Iverson... "The blend of basketball and the hip-hop culture"

Yep pretty much. Not to mention the racist garbage that some of the black columnists come out with (mostly Scoop Jackson before he left). It's the worst publication I've ever seen outside of "Handle" and the Daily Sport.

I've already read this magazine, let it sit on my coffee table for a while, wiped my ass with it, read it again, used it as a bed and recycled it.

In all honesty I like Slam, and I thought it was a good issue.

I dont like Slam. The players they interview and stuff are really cool, and the pictures too, but the articles suck. They're poorly written and dont delve into anything new.

Slam back in days of Tony Gervino was pretty good, especially the cracks at Reggie Miller, Russ Bengston wasn't that bad either, but once their new editor-in-chief Ryan Jones came in charge, I stopped bothering with the magazine. I buy SLAM every once in a while, mostly for their posters and good photos to put on my wall

Yea I've had the Wade edition of Slam for about 2/3 weeks already or so. The 100th Slam was so overhyped. I don't remember much about it, but I remember not liking it. Basicaly the only thing I like about Slam is the posters. I can't stand reading comments made by Slam subscribers that say how much this magazine has effected their lives, and brought new hope to their bball game. stupid, I think I still have 3 more months of my subscription (which I had to get... long story). Oh I also get a kick out of the stupid adds in the back that show you gimick items that can improve your game. Like a rim thats smaller than usual to improve shot accuracy, a rim that's bigger than usual to improve confidence. Glasses that block your downward view so that you have to dribble without looking down etc. stupid... But every now and then I'll find an article that I like.

why you such a playa hata for? :P
I agree.....SLAM is a total shitfest with amateur journalists at best (and that's being generous). Their articles blow and they teach nothing of the game. Not to mention that 50% of the magazine is filled with ads.

Truth is there are no good NBA mags out there.
