iPOD Nano.. who owns one? I need your opinion..

Postby BZ on Tue Aug 01, 2006 8:50 am

Well, I've just recently purchased a iPOD nano, and I've heard my friends say that they've heard others who do own a iPOD say that iPODs are quite faulty. Since iPOD nano uses flash memory, I shouldn't be worrying about faulty hard drives... but what about the internal battery? Have anyone who owns a nano had to return theirs? I've read some reviews online, but they only listed the pros and cons about the Nano's features... not the technical problems of it, and there has to be some. So if anyone who owns one (preferably for a while) could tell me how they're iPOD nano is? Thanks!

I've bought a 4GB iPod Nano a month ago because the screen of my iPod Mini broke, and I've never had technical problems with it. The battery lasts something like 8 hours if you don't shut the iPod down (I can tell you because I remember that one of my classmates that has a Nano never shut it down during class and the battery lasted all the "school-day").

Joe, the battery life of your Nano is way off, it should play around 16 hours continuously. I have a nano and have had no problems with it yet.

I don't know how much it played after school, since it was my schoolmate's iPod. What I tried to say is that it plays at least 8 hours.
I don't listen to music for more than two hours continuously, so I really don't know how much the battery lasts.

I'm gonna buy a 4GB one personalized for a very special girl. I hope she'll have no problems, I can't send it back to Apple if there's any problem.

There should be a 90-day warranty. A friend of mine broke the LCD screen of his Nano and he just called Apple and since it was in its warranty-period they had to give him a new iPod. He had to pay something like €40 for the support though.

I say Nanos are a waste of money.A 1gb and 2gb Nano isnt enough space at 150$-200$ and if your buying a 4gb why not pay an extra 50$ for a 30gb video. I see no logic in buying nanos unless you think there trendy and cute.

I only got it since I wanted a simple mp3 player that's cheap. I got my 2GB for $199.99 CDN, since I'm gonna use it for exercising, working out etc, and plus I had to save some money. :P

I agree, and not only that I thought the screen was pretty hard to see.

But I mean if it's personalized (with some letters in its back) I think I can't return it back to Apple.

I actually just got one yesterday, and so far so good. I previously had a mini which broke and ever since Ive wanted a new iPod, and im completely satisfied with my Nano, depending on how much your willing to pay, I would however get a iPod video instead.

I've got a Nano and I don't have any complaints. I had noticed the battery life wasn't quite as long as advertised but I updated the software last night (I'd been putting it off because I couldn't be bothered) and I've actually noticed better performance. I heard that was the case with the battery life and was skeptical about it, but it does seem to have done the trick.

I would never want to get a Nano. It seems too small and fragile, I'd be too afraid of breaking it.

Well, that, and it doesn't hold much music. I got a 40GB iPod (not colour, photo, or video) about a year and a half ago for about $350, and I have no complaints. I have almost 7,500 songs/comedy albums/audiobooks/podcasts so it fits it all. I really don't care if its not colour, because when I'm listening to music I'm not staring at the screen.

The battery life is good enough, but I only use it in the car or at school, so it doesn't need to be great.

I've found some reviews, and according to this review, the Nano is quite durable.:eh:

But yeah, after using the Nano today, I do notice that the battery drains pretty fast considering how I've gotten used to my old mp3 player (a PSP, god that thing was like fitting an elephant into your pocket). But overall, I actually like how it's working right now (Y)

I also read that the Nano was quite durable, which was one of the reasons I got it in the first place. I don't really have the need for anything larger than 4GB either, I keep my favourites on there and rotate other songs in and out as I get tired of them.

My PSP could last around 14 hours of music, same as the iPod nano is advertised, but I noticed that I barely used the nano for 4 hours and the battery was half gone, even though I've fully charged it. Are you supposed to let the nano run out of battery first like a cell phone? Cause I constantly recharge it when its around half done, just as how I've always did with my PSP.

I HAD a nano and they seem really cool and the battery life is supposed to be atleast 8 hours-14. The reason I dont know much about them is because the day i got one i was so excited i ripped open the box and i pull the nano out so fast it slipped out of my hand and hit the wall and the LCD screen was cacked and the back was scratched a whole lot. Those damn things weigh like 2 grams :?
