Personally, after checking the videos, I'm still at crossroads on whether this game is gonna be awesome, or disappointing.

Pros:
- Various existing matches have been improved.
- Improved graphics
- More interactive enviroment
Cons:
- Analog grapple system has yielded pretty unrealistic gameplay right now. It seems as if it's abusive like the freestyle superstars in Live 06. Watch the vids... how many times have John Cena done a Razor Edge(Crucifix Powerbomb)? On Triple H?!? To the outside of the ring? Unbelievable. And Triple H doing a chokeslam hold on Cena? I don't think Triple H ever pulled off a chokeslam in his career.
- Weightclass specific movelists. Meaning that cruiserweights can't do some powerbased moves on other cruiserweights, since you aren't allowed to select them in the first place.? Cruiserweights can do pretty much any move they want on their own weight class... so I think Yuke is screwing up BIG TIME here by the looks of it. They should restrict moves to the wrestlers weight class(like, what they can perform to other wrestlers of different weight classes), rather than restrict the moves you can choose based on the wrestler's weight class.
- Move animations. I still saw some retro moves they've used since the Smackdown series from the PSone days. Yuke's should definitely, (it should be mandatory) to update some moves.

Improvements:
- They need more and more moves in their current moves archive. I've checked out SvR's movelists compared to SvR2006's, and many moves were missing in SvR2006. It's wrestling, wrestling is all about the moves. Why do they have to remove it? Just because the WWE nowadays is totally gimmick based with crappy wrestling, doesn't mean the games have to be based on that too.

- Move animations again, need improvement on how they are pulled off. There shouldn't be ANY moves with automatic taunt after it's been pulled off... like Booker T's Scissors Kick. He does the spinaroonie long enough to have your opponent get up before you. Wrestlers should be able to cancel out of their own taunts. Some taunt's like Edges (where he motions for his opponent to get up) you'd want Edge to run straight out of the taunt when your opponent gets up, rather than have your opponent get up and attack you while your powerless to defend yourself since you can't cancel out of your taunt.

- Load times... especially for PSP. Nuff said.

- Create-A-Entrance should be more in depth with screenshot previews like WWE Raw 2

- Create-A-Belt needs a major overhaul. The belts in SvR2006 looked either butt ugly, too fake, or just horribly cropped. Major improvements needed.

Better CAW parts

The games have long featured a great CAW mode as far as faces and models are concerned, but the clothing/costume parts leave something to be desired. They're often too generic or too silly and often give CAWs a definite "created" look which needn't be the case with such an in-depth and effective face and body creation tools.

A few more generic/normal entrances wouldn't go astray either, as well as entrance music. It would be great to be able to choose from the songs in the soundtrack, some generic music suitable for an entrance theme and some classic themes that the WWE holds the copyrights for; it's about time we had the DX music back in the game to go along with the entrance moves they've left in there (perhaps the reformation will lead to that happening), the original nWo theme and whatever else they can include.

Character Specific Storylines or Responses

Some characters just shouldn't be involved in some storylines or say some of the things that they do. Removing a completely linear story mode would be awesome, going back to something similar to HCTP isn't bad if done properly but as far as having all kinds of different story arcs No Mercy remains THQ's top effort. Having characters, particularly ones like the Undertaker, getting involved in storylines that suit their personas or at least responding as they would in the real shows would be a huge step up.

Legends

Instead of having a few constant legends and substituting the others in and out, I think it would be far better to have a more stable roster of legends that includes as many as possible. It'd be great to see a legends contigent that consisted of:

Hulk Hogan (with the 80s look and nWo attire alternate costumes)
Steve Austin
The Rock
Bret Hart
Owen Hart
Roddy Piper
Ted Dibiase
Eddie Guerrero
Mick Foley (with Mankind/Cactus Jack/Dude Love as alternates)
Andre the Giant
Road Warrior Hawk
Road Warrior Animal
British Bulldog

And there's probably a few others I can't think of at the moment.

Miscellaneous

• More alternate costumes for everyone as well as the ability to designate alternates for CAWs.
• Ability to change a wrestler's default characteristics. Wrestlers often turn before the game comes out and are often faces by default when they should be heels and vice versa.
• Allow both faces and heels to steal their opponents' finisher in addition to having a super face/heel move (like the first Smackdown vs RAW)

I'll probably get the game regardless since it's usually always solid at least but I'd really like to see some of those things make the game.

yay ken kennedy and all the new guys..he probably will be in it.. i liked how in 2006 you could steal your opponent's taunt, they can keep that but the gameplay should be better. and also, they should actually make it a bit easier to land on your opponent when you are diving off the top of a cell or somethin in hell in a cell.

indeed it does. although i do see where mick and owen's wife are coming from, i really disagree with Vicki Guerrero. I'm sure there's enough Eddie fans out there that would want Eddie in the game to play as him, relive his greatest matches, or matches that never happened, etc to outnumber, by a long way, the miserable fuckwits who enjoy throwing dead peoples' likenesses off cages.

Agreed. I wasn't aware that Foley hated the Cactus Jack and Dude Love personas with such a passion though, given he's used Cactus Jack all around the world and Dude Love goes back to jumping off his roof in his teens. Seeing as though Mankind is in the game though (with Mick providing a voice for story mode) surely it's not unfathomable that he could appear in the game as himself with Mankind as an alternate costume or vice versa.

Anyway, I'd like to see them include as many Legends as possible in every release instead of a select few with some of them rotating in and out game to game.

That'd be awesome... but I think that it'd be better if THQ went with an update roster rather than waste precious CAW space for legends... because you could easily create that with CAW's. If THQ just threw in their entrances, movies and music, it'd be more than enough... because I'm sure many fans would like extra CAW spaces for their games. Personally, I rarely use the legends in the game, and how there was 3 Hogans.. 3!! was absurd.

I think even THQ would be apprehensive about pulling that off. I'm sure fans would certainly lash out if they had done that. Plus, Mr.America was just a stupid gimmick that didn't last, nobody cared, and that would've reduced *precious* CAW space to 29 instead of 30, which wouldn't look good.

no it wouldn't. the roster is a disc space thing. caws are a memory card space thing. they in no way correlate.

It's definitely not coming out for the PC... nor will they ever. Maybe if Pro Wrestling X becomes a a major success on the PC, THQ retards will finally realize.

As for the storyline, the career will be similiar to HCTP except I think with voiceovers instead of text.

Sorry for bumping this old topic, but I've found some pretty good information for SDvR2007 from another forum, so anyone that's getting SDvR2007 would definitely be interested. Without further ado

Back in 2004, a friend and I started our own dot com wrestling video game site that is no longer in existance (wrestlinggamesunlimited.com). However, back when it was up and running, we were officially recognized by THQ. While we were not given any exclusive information or the like, they did kindly provide us with a password to their media FTP (ftp.thq.com) in order to get looks of screenshots and other information pertaining to their games. After the site died down, we sort of forgot all about the FTP, as we were busy with a Puroresu site. However, recently, out of curiosity, I went back to the THQ FTP to see if it worked - and I was still able to log in! Now, for obvious reasons, we can't give out the password, but after looking around, we can confirm some things we saw pertaining to this game. We also can't give away any of the screens we saw, in risk of getting in bigtime trouble from THQ, but keep in mind everything here is on the FTP plain as day, and will probably be revealed by IGN soon.

-The only new match type to be added is indeed Money in the Bank.
-The roster is a bit outdated, but still pretty good compared to last year.
-Additions to the roster that we haven't yet seen include the recently released Goldust, Joey Mercury, Boogeyman, Mark Henry, Matt Hardy, Shawn Michaels (with new pants), and Ric Flair.
-There is no ECW brand. There is, however, a One Night Stand arena like last year.
-There's a whole page dedicated to talking about the analog grappling system. Apparently it's to be called "Precision Grappling."
-Season Mode will be like last year, only with more possible story branches.
-Apparently there's a new feature called 'Create an Arena'. This is possibly the biggest addition, as it states you can customize aprons, entranceways, lights, and more. The way they worded it made it sound like there's a custom logo creator as in Day of Reckoning 2.
-CAW mode will be by and large the same, as a few screens indicated. There was, however, one blank mode not filled in yet, as the tier went as such:

-No real detail was given, but a 'vastly improved GM mode' was noted.
-The 'legends arena' this year appears to be the classic Saturday Night's Main Event. The new SNME arena was also shown. Both look great. One screen showed Roddy Piper fighting classic Huk Hogan (again with bandanna) in the classic arena.

The list currently is only a list of confirmed superstars. The final product would include 60 Superstars in total, including Divas and Legends... and the chances of Ultimate Warrior being in a WWE game is absolutely zero, negative if that's possible. Warrior absolutely hates the WWE

given that thq has not announced CAA, i doubt it will be in, eddie's wife, who owns his rights, does not want him in the game, and, the killer, is that thq have stated that the roster will be updated to include ecw wrestlers, which this article claims not to be the case.

also, i find it hard to believe that thq would give away their ftp password, since others could do this sort of thing, and upload and delete whatever they want to. with thq's level of security even with IGN, there is no way they'd give a bunch of nobodies their ftp password.
