My brother has the jumpsoles. He has used them for quite some time and his vertical has increased quite a bit. He is 5'8'' and able to dunk with ease. But, he spends a lot of his day working out and running and staying in shape. The jumpsoles actually do what they promise but, you need to work out with them and stay consistent with it. If you just buy the shoes and stare at them, nothing will get accomplished.

Do the Air Alert III workout, you'll jump 5-15 inches more. I've done it, I jump 8 inches more now. I'm 5'10" and I can touch the rim now.
It requires time and effort too, so basically it's like the jumping soles, but without them.
It takes something like 8 weeks to complete the workout but if you follow the instructions you'll jump higher surely. Good luck.

i did that too....it's a 15 week program or so. I'm 5'8, by week 8 i could jump w/o a run up and grab the rim.....too bad i failed to finish is off due to lack of time. It does work but you have to prepare yourself for a rigorous workout.

You may be able to find it on the net.

I've always heard that Air Alert can screw around with your knees if done improperly and that you have to consistently train to maintain the verticle.

Almost my entire bball team had got some including me and they don't really help you as much as they say, but it helped me a little bit. We would usually wear them on game days.

Just wear some weights around your ankles.

Cheaper, easier.

Cheaper? No Mazzlow, Air Alert is free..

I did Air Alert too, but I didn't finish the entire thing... Did it up til 4th week only. But it really helped not only my vertical leap, but also quickness and speed... (Y) I recommend it.

Actualyl I have no idea what Air Alert is hah

In that case, if you use weights you dont even have to do annything special, no training, just go on with your life and your legs will get stronger.

Meh, that's what I'd do

I beg to disagree. I bought a TV for cheap entertainment, stared at it and I did nothing, objective achieved.

I think that would have a different/little effect on jumping. It would greatly improve muscle endurance but very little development on muscle strength. That sort of training would be effective if, you're training as a boxer.

But you stared at the TV, hence you technically did do something instead of nothing.

Air Alert is like a video that guides you through excercises to improve your verticle.

I don't think running with weights are good for you. It's best if you just walk around in them or do some light running since I've known a friend who has screwed up his legs trying to use ankle weights.

Eh, you got me there with your technical mumbo jumbo.

To those who used those exercise programs that increase your vert, how many inches did your jump increase by?

That's true... My knee is fucked up. It didn't hurt before I did the workout but I guess it's because I had surgery on that knee. Now it hurts and everytime I play basketball I have to wear some shit on my knee that presses it.
Something like this: Link
but without the hole in the middle.
Anyways...just playing basketball will help you keep the vertical-inches you gained with the workout. I've finished Air Alert in March and in June my vertical leap was the same it was in March. Now I must have lost some inches because the season is over and I'm not playing basketball almost everyday like I did before July.
Joey Jojo: before doing the Air Alert workout, my vertical leap was only 60cm (something like 23 inches) and now it's 82cm (something like 32 inches). I gained 22cm (8-9 inches) with the workout. Next season I'm planning to do it two times so that I gain at least 35cm (15 inches) more.
Doing exercises where you learn to control the eccentric-concentric forces (term please) helps you gain more inches.

hmm I've always been looking into new ways to increase my vertical... I heard that jumpsoles pretty much make you walk on your toes all day, which helps develop your calves. but I wouldn't mind another 5-9 inches on my vert maybe I'll be able to dunk after I try it.

Oh Lord! I think I have I will have to do the workout again and again to get my vertical-leap to 1 metre. I tested my vertical today and at the first try I got a very poor 47cm (barely 19 inches) but after five tries (which is the definitive if you follow the Air Alert 3 DVD) I've got 70 cm (something between 24 and 26 inches) which is still 12 cm less than what my vertical was one month and half ago, but at least it's more than 20 inches. I'll do the workout two/three times the upcoming season...I hope I can get my vertical to 1 metre.

For improving your vertical I recommend doing yoga/stretching, weight training and plyometric (Air Alert is just perfect). I haven't done much aerobics or any plyometrics at all for almost a year now, just weightlifting and yoga, and my vertical still improved with added strength and flexibility.

Do you think doing Air Alert with ankle weights would cause more harm than good. I just got Air Alert 3 and ankle weights and I think if I do air alert with the weights it should be a huge improvement.

i dunno, i would go the first 4 or 5 weeks to see how u feel and if u feel as tho u can do it then go for it, be careful though. AA2 was a great program i did it but i had to stop at week 8 becoz i messed up my knee, but i gained sumthing like 8 inches... but from sitting round this offseason and not playing as much my jump is alot lower.

I'm 5'10" and I can touch the rim and I'm not done growing. I think if I can get like 7 inches I should be able to dunk easily.
