Slowdown

is this forum slowing down for anyone else? as indicated by my 5 consecutive posts yesterday, i'm experiencing loading times in excess of five minutes, on a cable internet connection, when trying to reply. it can also take up to a minute just to load a page.

I have the same thing but I have it with all sites, mostly forums, cause my internet connection kinda like breaks down every 5 minutes or so.

It does happen from time to time, usually when we're getting a lot of traffic. I haven't noticed it happen as much as it was for a while there (before the last downtime).

yep it happening to me and was just about to make a topic on it.

sometimes the website just freezes for like 2 hrs and i cant get on

i think sometimes, this is the reason that posters double-post with the same message. once i tried to reply on a thread. it was loading for about 5 mins or so. i closed my browser. the next day, when i looked at my thread, my message was there.

It's something that happens from time to time when the server gets a lot of traffic. It generally clears up fairly quickly, some people seem to experience it more often than others (and longer delays than others). I've never had a post take an hour and a half to load though.

You're right though, a lot of identical double posts come because of the slowdown since people instinctively click the Submit button a few times if it's slow to load - kind of like how you might press a button for an elevator repeatedly in the hopes that it will come quicker. It won't, and it won't make the forum go any faster.

Obviously I can't comment on the last week or so but in recent times it hasn't been so bad. It's usually pretty speedy for me and I'm on a fair bit at different times of the day. When it does rear its ugly head, the best thing I can suggest is to just ride it out. It'll clear up soon enough.
