McNair To Baltimore

Fri Jun 09, 2006 8:01 am

As Mcnair passed his physical the trade is complete Mcnair is officially a Raven. They have made many good moves this offseason upgrading their Defense and resigning Jamal Lewis.I Think its good move because now they have a steady QB,but Mcnair is not the same QB we saw at the Super Bowl. :?

Finally.
McNair had good years in TN but time to go.
Time for my boy Vince Young to step it up !

Vince wont start to begin the year. The backup Volek will play because they want to develop Young very slowly. They might also sign Kerry Collins and he might start. Vince will get to start in a year or so.

Yeah McNair is also hooking up with former teammates WR Derrick Mason and CB Samari Rolle. Should be good.

Who didn't see this coming? We knew this was going to happen as soon as the Titans let go of the sleeper hold they had on McNair. Is this a good fit? I think it's a pretty darn good situation for both sides. The Ravens were desperate for a quarterback because if they had one more year with Anthony Wright and Kyle Boller then Billick's job would be in some serious jeopardy. Now you can have McNair take the starting job while Boller either gets his act together as a back-up or leaves town.

Here are the concerns for the Ravens:

1. Can McNair stay healthy? He has had a lot of injury problems over the years and if he can't stay healthy then you have some problems. He has missed a lot of practice over the years and if you are on a new team you need all the practice time you can get.

2. Can the defense return to form? The defense last year was a major let down. The defense wasn't able to carry the team like it has in years past and it showed. Will Ray Lewis come back to form? Will Ed Reed become the dominate safety he can be? Can they get a solid pass rush from the front? For the first time in quite a few years it's the defense that is a major question mark.

3. Can Jamal Lewis and the running game get back on track? Chester Taylor, their back-up last year, has left to Minnesota (my Vikes!) so that means Lewis will have to carry even more of the load. The offensive line struggled and Lewis couldn't go anywhere all season. He has had some legal problems lately so can he stay focused this year and play the football he is capable of doing?

As a Titans and McNair fan, this has me conflicted. Theres no justification for the way the Titans treated mcnair, a player who sacrificed so much for their organisation. But becuase of them drafting young and white, and signing david givens, ill let it slide :proud:. Seriously though, this is one of the more ironic twists in sports. In 2000, the titans made the superbowl from the wildcard. The next season they finished with the top record and in their first playoff game of the playoffs, they were bounced by a wildcard team: the ravens, who would go onto the superbowl and win.

Then neither team would make the playoffs until 2003 when the titans would get all the way to the conference title game. That team did overachieve though, and despite getting better next season and Mcnair being named mvp, they were only a wildcard that season where they would play, who else, the ravens. The Titans beat the ravens on the road to extract revenge for 2001 and would then give the patriots their biggest test of their back to back superbowl wins.

Now, after all that, Mcnair will be a raven. I think he will be a perfect fit. He has had experience in both a pass dominated offense and a run dominated offense.

1. Can McNair stay healthy? He has had a lot of injury problems over the years and if he can't stay healthy then you have some problems. He has missed a lot of practice over the years and if you are on a new team you need all the practice time you can get.

Practice is the most overated word a sports fan uses. McNair didnt practice at a stretch of 2003, and yet he still led the titans to the playoffs. Sure this is a new team, but he's still playing qb. Practice is the least of their problems.

All they need is the pass rush from upfront and then lewis can go back to what he does best without double and triple teams. plus with mcnair, the ravens wont be losing too many games on the offensive end (at least not as many as they were losing with boller), so there is less pressure on the ravens defense.

Those legal problems were last off season, and they effected him last season. he hasnt had any problems this off season so he should be fine.
Vince wont start to begin the year. The backup Volek will play because they want to develop Young very slowly. They might also sign Kerry Collins and he might start. Vince will get to start in a year or so.

If the titans sign collins im trading him immediately or cutting him in madden
