The Brazilians are in the house
staff writer
The Brazilian Men's Football Team arrived at Frankfurt Airport in style yesterday and leading the way was Ronaldo; the man seeking to stamp his name in World Cup goalscoring history. Ronaldo is presently tied with Pele with 12 World Cup goals and is just two behind Gurd Muller of Germany for the all-time lead. He claims to be mentally and physically prepared to make his final World Cup a memorable one.
The man of the moment however is the FC Barcelona playmaker Ronaldinho. He was unavailable for interview, as was the entire team, but it is said that he is out to prove his worth in the tournament after a poor outing in the Champions league final. He is regarded as the best player in the world while Arsenal's Thierry Henry is his strongest challenger to that title. Even though Thierry wasted many goalscoring opportunities during the match, he was the more impressive one of the two while even setting up Arsenal's controversial opening goal. He was very outspoken after the match about his dissatisfaction the match referees and also Ronaldinho's poor showing. Readers are advised to look out for news regarding the two during the tournament as this matter may grow into an even bigger dispute.
All eyes will be on Brazil's famed "Magic Quartet" which will be aiming to dazzle fans in Germany. Consisting on Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Adriano and Kaka, the group will spearhead the Brazilian attack while in the process look to retain their trophy. Veteran players like R. Carlos and Cafu (team captain) will also be there to sure up the defensive end while assisting the 'quartet' in attacking the goal. Dida will be in goal even though he has shown shaky form during his most recent Serie A campaign. Leading the bench will be their young starlet Robinho who is labeled as the next Pele. He will be looking to add a boost in the Brazilian attack if need be. With a full of local and international stars, Brazil look to challenge their own history as being the bst team ever to step foot on a football pitch. There is a drawback to this as there is a possibility that if the team has any shaky moments on the field then egos may begin to show their heads and disrupt harmony within the Brazilian camp. Coach Carlos Alberto Parreira will have his hands full trying to manage such a star-studded team.
INJURIES
The biggest concern for Brazil presently is Ronaldo's foot injury. He had to hobble off the pitch for medical attention around 4-5 times during their friendly match against New Zealand and it was reported that the issue is regarding blisters on both feet. He was substituded during halftime and is expected to make a full recovery before their opening match.
A sneak peak of Brazil's training session and player interviews will be featured in later articles.

Brazil held an early morning practice session which was only open to invited guests and the media. Photographers got a chance to take snapshots of the "Magic Quartet" in action but only dadaworldcupnews.com reporters were allowed to interview the international stars. Coach Parriera stated "Things are very good in the Brazilian camp" and this was obvious by the number of smiles present on the faces of players as they went through their morning workout.
As promised, here are a few photos of the session for your viewing pleasure. There will be more to come in later days as Brazil apply their finishing touches before the tournament begins.

What is the atmosphere like in the Brazilian group?
Ronaldinho-"Well....let me put it this way, things could not be better. We are all fit, well rested and ready to go. This is the key for us. We have no injury worries and the group has always had a strong bond so the atmosphere in wonderful. Coach even had us singing Karaoke the other night *breaks out in laughter*."
Do you believe the team has what it takes to go all the way?
R- "Definitely! It would be a waste of time flying to Germany if we didnt believe this. Of course there are many challenges out there to overcome but this team is destined for greatness and I will do everything I can on the football field to retain our title as the world's best. No other country can dance like us can they Mr. Staff-inho?"
Do you believe you can shine in the 4-2-2-2 system during the tournament?
R- "I can shine in any system Mr. Staffinho. I can adapt to any formation because at the end of the day it is still football, this is what I have passion for. You cannot be creative on the field with a one-track mind as this is what will limit your talent. I cannot say I am a forward, or a midfielder, I am a mixture of all these things. I just play football, thats it *smiles*."
Which other team do you think will do very well in this tournament?
R- "Of course there are many but I think Germany will play some very strong football over this next month. Nothing is sweeter than hearing your country cheer for you. South Korea did well at home last time and I expect the same from the Germans."
Lastly, how is your relationship with Thierry Henry?
R- "We are good friends. Of course people try to make a big deal out of his comments after the Champions League Final but people will always say strange things in the heat of the moment. I hope to meet his team sometime during the tournament and I believe this time around the encounter will be much better. If you want to be the best you have to beat the best."
Well this concludes our interview...
R- "Well thank you very much Mr. Staffinho, I hope that nickname sticks with you *laughs*. Hopefully we can do this again sometime soon, maybe at the end of the tournament."

Thirty winners of a raffle held two months ago to meet up with the Brazilian National team for a luncheon were surprised to find out that not only would they meet their heroes, they would also get a chance to watch them play a match in full national gear.
After the lunchoen was over, guest were met by a large chartered bus as they were being escorted to the parking garage. They were transported to the team's training grounds where they were met by Coach Parreira alongside Brazilian captain Cafu, decked out in full national team gear. He informed them of their intentions in bringing them to the grounds and then the full squad sprinted out on to the field as selct media representatives swarmed the sidelines to get their first shots. Coach Parreira guided guest to a special booth where they had the best seat in the house to watch the action. The match would end with the first team reaching three goals and guests were treated to a thrilling display of Brazilian football in its purest form.
THE MATCH
Ronaldo opened the scoring after a brilliant string of passes starting from Ze Roberto which was capped off by an exceptional throuh pass by Ronaldinho to the striker. The reserves were quick to reply however, as Robinho intercepted a back pass and blasted a strike which Dida could only watch as it whizzed by. By now the guests were jumping in there seats as they watched both sides string together plays at a pace which they did not find familiar to any other team in the tournament.
The entire match lasted around forty minutes as Adriano netted and Ronaldo added a second to cap off the scoring.
THE COACH SPEAKS
Coach Parreira stated after the match "This is only a teaser compared to what you will see during the Finals. I specifically gave my players instructions to play at 50% of their regular pace during friendlies which we completely dominated. Recently I decided to tweak it a little and what you saw was 60% of our capabilities. We are confident and fit, and we are ready, both physicall and mentally, to show the world our true class. We will continue to improve during the tournament and will show you 100% Brazilian magic in the Final. This may sound arrogant but I always tell my firends that in whatever I choose to do, I do it to win."
GOALS
Ronaldo catches the keeper going in the wrong direction as he opens the scoring.
Robinho equalizes with a stunning strike.
The keeper can only watch as Adriano powers home to put the starters back into the lead.
Ronaldo uses his head to win the match.
!JOGA BONITO!
The "Magic Quartet" looked in fine form as they showed an array of eye-popping moves. Ronaldinho had 2 assists in this match and Kaka was as sharp as ever while even hitting the crossbar with an effort on goal. Emerson was the source if stability in midfield, linking up attacks while giving Reserve player few cards to play in midfield. Robinho was the star of the opposite half as he always looked dangerous on ball even though his group only netter a lone goal. Fred also had a few opportunities to score but was off target in his efforts. All in all there was very little to complain about and by the looks of things, Brazil seem set to retain their title as champions.
Adriano flicks the ball between the legs of the defender.
Ronaldinho looked magical on the ball as he fools Cicinho.
Keeping uip with Kaka was easier said than done.
Other pictures
Emerson makes a well timed tackle on defense.
Juninho tries to place a volley past Dida.
Robinho challenges Adriano in the air.

Ronaldo looked in fine form during Brazil's practice match yesterday despite recent worries related to blisters on his feet. He has been wearing boots with special cushioning to help ease the discomfort and team doctors have indicated that his slight injury is about 80% healed. By the time Brazil play their first match they believe it will be around 95% healed but they worry that it may worsen if he is on the rough end of a bruising tackle.
Ronaldo has appealed to FIFA World Cup referees to "make the right calls and let it remain as the beautiful game." He believes that with the way Brazilians play, rival teams may try to disrupt their chemistry on the pitch by playing dirty and "not playing beatiful football." He says that many will be aware of his injury and may intentianally try to aggravate it in an attempt to make the striker less effective. He continued to say "...strikers need to be protected more by match officials. Defenders are getting away too often with kicking us on our calves and ankles and this is why we always pick up some ver nagging injuries. Yes, it may seem petty but having a swollen ankle does not help us out much when running or making an accurate strike on the ball."
Brazil will open their World Cup campaign against Croatia and Ronaldo will be looking out to see if referees will heed his advice.
