I agree that people are being very hard on Bonds and not hard on other steriod using players, but that doesn't mean it's because of his race. It has more to do with the fact that he is just a plain jerk. He has been a bitch to the media and they are just getting back at him.

Congrats on tying Ruth, Barry. Barry isn't a great guy but it's not like Ruth was either.

Hank Arron holds the actual record, so i dont think the hate for barry is race driven....

the reason there hasnt been any hard evidence on barry is becuase baseball knew about it. if they come out with anything, it will show how baseball condoned steroids, which is worse than barry actually taking them.

I'm reminded of the Mickey Mantle - Roger Maris incident. It wasnt about race that time and I'm not sure if it is this time but more of Bonds being a bad character and having rumors flowing around him. But even though it may not apply in this case I do sense a slight air of racism when it comes to baseball records than other sports, I guess thats because its was originally considered not full on publicy but at least privately as the white man's past time here before being dubbed as America's favourite past time.

This is just an assumption and one that i fail to acknowledge. Baseball has always considered to be america's pastime, but not strictly a white mans sport. Remember the influence Jackie Robinons playing had in the world of sport? That was in baseball. But to go a little deeper, Bonds isnt getting a hard time becuase he's black. He's getting a hard time becuase he's considered the face of baseball. You can point to Mcguire and Giambi and say they havent copped what Bonds has, but also look at sammy sosa, he has also been givena free pass so to speak. Its just all the attention is on bonds, even before steroids saga hit the roof, and he is getting the bulk of it.

It has nothing to do with racism.

I don't think it has to do with race at all, but Bonds attitude in general. He's one of the most hated players in the MLB because of his pride and attitude toward his own teammates, fans, and the media.

I agree... not a race related issue at all. Isn't it a black man that holds the all time home run record? I don't see anyone having issues with that.

I just get really tired of hearing people scream racism... Mark McGwire is pretty much hated by all but Cardinals fans, just like Barry Bonds liked only by Giants fans.
