No more basketball for me on TV anymore

Postby Scotty on Thu May 04, 2006 11:59 am

ok so i havn't had Foxtel for very long and before that the only way i could see any NBA was the 3 min highlights on NBA.com-so on the 3rd of April we got a free month of Foxtel IQ (http://www.foxteliq.com.au/) with all the channels. So i got it a bit before the playoffs started so i was happy i could finally watch some NBA. So it was all good although i knew i would only have it for a month (which was about 8-10 games) i think. Then last Monday i went to camp and came back yesterday and when i got back my Dad told me we had decided to keep the Foxtel so i was like Fuck yeah, but then he told me we havn't got all the channels anymore just the basic ones and movie ones-shit like that. So i asked him if we have ESPN anymore and we dont so now that's the end of the basktball for me. It's so gay why couldn't we keep ESPN until the playoffs finished then get rid of it, i couldn't give a fuck about it after that. Anyway it makes me think how much it sucks to only have basketball on one channel. :x

i think if we had all channels like we first did it would cost about $110 p/month, where as what we are fetting is about $70 p/month. You can get what we are getting plus two other packages (you can see the channels are in packages) for another $15 bucks.

is anyone else in a situation where they pretty much cant even watch basketball at all?

I don't have foxtel, but i can still watch basketball.

I can't really talk about it on the forum though, as it isn't exactly "legal" :shifty:

Yes he is. I'm in the same boat as Nick, though we're thinking about getting Foxtel.

Same boat here, though it isn't Foxtel, but rather Dish Network.

I know more people who get "free" TV than I do people who pay for it legitimately.

If you forego the movie channels, it's only around $75 per month including ESPN (as well as the Comedy Channel).

Sometimes I'm tempted to get the movie channels as well but I can't afford it right now. Personally I can do without them, most of the movies I'd want to watch again and again I own on DVD anyway.

Agreed, you can rent a new release DVD with all the extra features for about the same price (or less).

well i got Foxtel too....i'm fronting the $80 bill a month myself, that's like 20% of my monthly earnings ( i refuse to work more than 11hrs a week :P ) but for the love of NBA....i'd rather have NBA than go out and get shitfaced on the weekend or have the fridge full of beer.

NBA > anything else.

oh yeah that too.

ok i've had found a few alternatives, but if they dont work then i might have to do this

There's this new channel on Foxtel called Sport Center, except it's not like the other channels. What it is, is when you go into it-it shows all 9 sports channels at once (screen is divided into 9) and when you move your cursor on to one of the channels it gives you volume for that channel. So even though i dont have ESPN, in one of those 9 squares is ESPN. So i could watch the basketball in 1/9 th of the screen if i was desperate.
