Some decent sigs this week, seems like it was a pretty hard round for most people. I'll make the next two a bit less challenging, sort of.

HOW THE VOTING WORKS

You PM me with the following details for every matchup that you're not involved in. Example:

Matchup: Wankster vs nbalive744
Winner: nbalive744
Comments: Both sucked but I felt nbalive744 didn't do his by controlling the mouse with his tongue.

It's that simple. Try to get the votes in as quickly as you can so we can move on to next round.

Also, remember that if you're not in the sig league, you can't vote this way...

Vote on which sig you thought was the best overall.

In the next post I'll post all of the entries.

I couldn't make a graphic out of the Colin/TBD match-up because Colin's is animated.

Of course my sig is the biggest piece of shit ever.

I voted for cklitsie's small but uber looking sig.

Jae's, hands down. That's flawless. The colours, the feel, the look of Amare. Fucking amazing.

Then again I could be all in love with it because it looks like weed. But shit, that's got my vote.

TBD's, Cable Guy's and Jae's are the most awesome for me. Jugs' is just plain funny like every week, it doesn't get you many points but you keep up your reputation.
Except Jae's jersey/headband switch isn't up to par with the awesomeness in the rest of the sig.

Cyanide's and Colin's are kinda disappointing and Damien Wilkins isn't Dominque's son, it's Gerald's.

ps. has anyone ever used so many fucking 's as I just did?

CK's is real good, but I think he'll have to lose the small size for these contests.

Jae's is focking great. He should make a wall out of that.

CG's, as CK said, Damien isn't Dominique's son. Plus Damien isn't exactly the second coming of Dominique. Plus the "Hawks" on Nique's jersey is backwards, and it looks like you drew the border in.

Null's is simple but cool. Figures someone would use that pic.

Axel's is better than his previous sigs. I think he coulda blended the text better. Plus he shoulda switched the name up like Air Gordon or Ben Jordan.

Peachy's is pretty good too. This is a tough match up.

Cyanide's looks like a magazine ad or something. I don't really see a connection between MJ and Amare, but I guess since this is new+old, you didn't have to use anyone related. Still pretty simple, except for the cut maybe, and could have been beaten if anyone besides jugs matched up against him.

Yeah, but you speak the truth and you don't pay attention to how stuff is made, only to how it looks.. eg. PS-users might spare someone if he made something really hard and time consuming even if it doesn't look like it..

I tried to make it look like MJ is coming out of nowhere and interrupt a regular basketball game because that guy can't just retire. There wasn't supposed to be a connection with Amare or MJ.

nicely done Jae....my only complaint is the jersey switch is a bit iffy

Either way I voted for Peachy, it's the best one that doesn't have something that distracts me.

CK - It's nice, but it seems like there's too much stuff squeezed in there.
Jae - It looks great, but I instantly noticed how flat you've left the jersey. And you've got that grid behind the text tthat's a different size than the grid-based 'reign' text.
Cable Guy - Fractals don't work well in under-saturated sigs. The text is kind of weak, and there's the 'he's not his son' thing.
Null - It looks really nice, and good way to get away with only using one picture. I hate doing anything with multiple players/subjects. And the text is great.
Axel, text doesn't fit very well, and you've got to get some player effects going. I also think doing that with only one Ben picture would've been better. Especially that one on the left since they seem to be in similar positions.
Peachy - Like I said, voted for this one. The text looks pretty good (apart from the edges being blurred). The reason this wins is not that it has some really awesome thing, it wins because there's nothign wrong with it.
Me - Hey Colin, nice jersey switch, and good job making Nash the right colour.
BD - Wilkins head is really big compared to JRich. And you've got a very strong light-to-dark in the background, yet the lighting on it doesn't effect the players whatsoever.
Jugs - Yinka Dare is one of the best players to every play basketbal. Don't disrespect his name. Seriously though, pretty funny.
Cyanide - It's alright, suffering from the same "simple" curse I seem to have. As a piece of art it's really good (which seems to be the creative mindset we're in all the time), but as a sig it's lackluster. Also, is that Stackhouse? I'm not entirely sure, but I think so.

I'll make the next two a bit less challenging, sort of.

Anything that lets me stick to having one player and I'll be happy.

Me - Hey Colin, nice jersey switch, and good job making Nash the right colour.

Don't blame it on us, this sig just isn't anywhere near your normal stuff. No matter what you've done to make it, it just doesn't look that good.

Even relative PS noobs (read: cyberface patchers) adjust skin tones of people in pictures all the time. The jersey switch on the uber small pic is impressive.
Nash's arm looks awkward, not your fault at all but it doesn't really help your sig's look and the text looks like it's done in Paint, especially the Pistol.

I know what I said sounds harsh and my sig is nasty but I thought I'd just let you know why people don't appreciate your sig the way you seemed to have expected.

Are you joking me? I spent 2 1/2 hours mixing and matching different effects to try to get it the way I wanted it.

No, on those Ben pics it looks like you just slapped them on. Maybe with a little bit of extra contrast.

I didnt. There is a slight drop shadow on each one, a motion blur, a spotlight effect (though it didnt turn out as well as i liked), curves & levels adjusted. I also duplicated the layer and did something else... not quite sure.

I'm really not sure what else I'm supposed to be doing because each time i get the same comments.

CK: Great concept, well executed... only negative is that it's too small. I have to get right up to the monitor to read the little white text, I don't think everyone would know who those two guys are so it's hard for real basketball fans like Sit to tell. Otherwise fantastic, I was disappointed when I saw it (since with your time constraints I wasn't expecting much)

Cable Guy: Lol, it's good in theory but the execution is a little off... as TBD said, it's not his son and the reversed Hawks jersey is noticeable. The Mutombo one is awesome, in a million years I wouldn't have found a pic that could be used with him bending over a table

Null: As usual, well executed, very clean... you're allergic to grunge brushing which is probably a good thing. On the negative side it's probably the easiest sig to do, with that pic but it still looks nice.

Axel: I always like your stuff even if there's some flaws... what Colin said about the player effects is fairly true, the one on the left is fine but the one on the right doesn't look like it has anything going on... I'm guessing you reduced the opacity of the effects or something, alternatively if you use bigger pictures the effects are easier to see etc. Background is great, I like the colour choice but the text is a bit flat.

Peachy: I'd say it's your best sig overall, no real flaws stand out (apart from Barkley being noticeably smaller than Amare) Background is good, text is good and everything's put together well. Only real problem is it's a bit flat, there's limited depth to it and there's no real focus on the sig. The two pictures are so blended in with everything else nothing stands out, but still good.

Colin: I see where you're going, jersey switch is perfect but that was probably a bit too simple to just leave it at that. Bonus points for using the retarded Nash pic

Cyanide: Looks good, clean as always but a bit too plain for me. I think last weeks schizophrenic Stephon Marbury sig killed this and shit on it's grave as far as creativity goes, it's well executed but something's missing... not sure what, but whatever it is isn't there. Hence it being missing. You're still going to win (duh) but even still, not much going on there.

TBD: My favourite sig this week... purely because the players are matched so perfectly, if you didn't know who either of them were you'd think the pic was taken of them together. Unless it actually was and I've missed something. Only negative is that little triangle thing on Richardson's chest.

Exactly as Ck said it, you tell it like it is and thats what (most) people like.

I voted for my own, but I think Null's is the best. If I had used the Mutumbo sig, how many of you would have voted for me?

Comments: CK's would be tons better if it were bigger, but I like what he tried to do. The pics look good together, and the font choice/placement is great. Jae's is good, but I'm kind of lost looking at the right sid. I like the setup, but the Amare jersey switch could be better and the earing looks out of place.

Matchup: CG vs. Null
Winner: -
Comments: I like Null's, it's simple, yet effective. The only thing I'm not sold on is the text and the placement, and maybe add a gradient to the sides. Other than that, it's a great sig. Okay, so I screwed up. I didn't bother to check to father/son thing. I meant it to be a mirror type thing, where Damien is doing the lay-up, and in the mirror you see Dominique instead, but I couldn't get it to look right, so I gave up on that. How the hell am I in 2nd place in the public vote? The Mutumbo one came to me as I read what Jae said about Mutumbo in a retro jersey; I knew the Antoine pic would be perfect.

Matchup: Axel vs. Peachy
Winner: Peachy
Comments: The pics of Gordon don't really go with Axel's sig, and I probably would have used just one. I think it'd be better if it were smaller. Peachy's is awesome, but it seems too flat. The text is perfect.

Winner: TBD
Comments: C'mon Colin, you can do way better than that. It's a great idea, but it's too simple. Did you draw the text yourself? TBD's is sweet, it looks like one pic, even if Richardson is brown-er than Dominique. The bg looks repetitive, though, but it's still a great sig.

Matchup: Jugs vs. Cy
Winner: Jugs
Comments: Cy's doesn't look right with the Dallas dude, it took me a while to realized he's not part of the main idea. Again, it's too simple for me, but I like the concept. I vote for Jugs because I think he put more effort into his. Jugs, why are you part of this still?
