PSP going down already?

Postby Scotty on Tue Apr 11, 2006 4:11 pm

I've noticed that the PSP prices and game prices are going down dramatically already, the other day i say GTA:LCS for $50Aus and the PSP value pack with the car charger and all the extras plus and game for about $350. the guy said it's already stopped making some games and they're not very popular at the moment and they can't afford to stock the older(first release)games. i think this may be beacuse of the 360
-your thoughts?

Hopefully the value pack thing goes down to under 300 and then I might buy one actually. But I already have an iPod and Laptop so I dont really need it. But, its always good to have something to play whilst im bored with ps2 or gamecube (which i am) and when my sister wants to use the PC

I've never been a fan of the handheld platform, except on school camps when someone brought along a Gameboy - the original one - then I'd be lining up to get a turn.

DS sold 10 million + units whereas the PSP is nowhere near. I'd say that the DS is GOING places. In fact, it's the top selling console worldwide this year. I don't get know where you get the idea that the DS isn't going anywhere.

DS is going places. Nintendo owns the handheld console market.

It's a shame, because they used to top the console market as well. I was a diehard Nintendo fan up to and including the Nintendo 64, but once it got to the PS2/Xbox/Gamecube generation I switched to Sony.

That's because their regular consoles suck balls, unless you're Asian or into cartoony video games where all of the characters have gigantic heads.

Resident Evil 4. I rest my case. Have you ever played that game? Probably not. Most GameCube bashers haven't even touched the console or haven't really seen that chances are most games are for all platforms anyhow. Yes RE4 was out for PS2 as well, but it didn't sell nearly as well. What, the chainsaw blood not gory enough for you? Or was Leon's head too big for you? Or was it too Asian? Leon sounds like Reonu to you or something? Or was it just the pressure that if you bought a GameCube console you'd magically turn into a kid. Heck, I'd want to magically turn into a kid. It was sure better then when I didn't have to worry about getting a job, getting good grades and what not.

Who cares if the game looks or sounds kiddy if the game is fun. Heck I doubt you ever thought "Man mario looks too unrealistic, it's stupid, it's for kids" when the NES was out? Now all of a sudden everything needs to have friggin blood and shit and no friggin substance. The games now have to be Halo and GTA clones. Because that's what cool kids love. Yea, feed them the same shit over and over again. Those kids always go for the same.

Most Asians btw play Sony so that friggin stereotype is wrong. Oh, you meant Asians as in japs? Likewise. They don't even sell GameCube in those other Asian countries anyhow. And the GameCube sucks arguments are always the same. People just believing in stereotypes just because of peer pressure or whatever. Have they really played the games? No. They just judge based on retarded stereotypes without ever really playing the game.

That still has nothing to with DS owning the shit out of PSP because it is.

Ugh, this always annoys me.

You rest your case? You can get Resident Evil 4 on Xbox and PS2, it's not exclusive to Gamecube.

Have you ever played that game? Probably not.

No, but I could do so on my Xbox.

Yeah.. this all makes you look quite stupid now.

Who cares if the game looks or sounds kiddy if the game is fun.

Dude you sound like Michael Jackson.

Heck I doubt you ever thought "Man mario looks too unrealistic, it's stupid, it's for kids" when the NES was out?

Considering I was about 7 or 8 years old when that happened, I can't say I did.

The games now have to be Halo and GTA clones.

What's wrong with Halo and GTA?

Peer pressure? God I wish people weren't pressuring me into buying inferior machines with a limited range of games and "exclusives" like Zelda that I have absolutely no interest in whatsoever. That would make me so happy, then I could play relics like Mario and Bash Bro's.

That still has nothing to with DS owning the shit out of PSP because it is.

How do you know? Do you work for Nintendo?

Ugh, this always annoys me.

You'd think if it happens so often you'd be half decent at arguing your point regarding the topic.

Um ok a few glaring mistakes

RE4 is not in the shitbox or shitbox360. RE4 was released for PS2, but it will not be released for the shitbox. Not to mention RE4 sold less on the PS2 than GameCube. I could've also said Resident Evil for GameCube was exclusive.

As for DS owning PSP, the answer is sales and you can't do anything about that.

http://news.spong.com/article/9483/Worl ... 13+Million
There...13 Million vs 7 Million. Maybe you can't see the numerical difference.

Well it's hard to argue well when I'm angered. You're the one who brought it to the flaming area by bashing Nintendo. I don't know if it was the Asian stereotype thing that made me pissed, somehow implying Asians only play kiddy games or something, or Nintendo bashing. But it did make me pissed.

I don't get why you always have to dis me every single time. I never really dissed you, but every single time you have to cross the line or something. (And I assume you shall reply here with a dis?)

I probably am guessing this will basically just lead to more insulting from you.

I've never denied it's "owning the PSP"... where exactly did you see me say that? I said it WAS outselling the PSP because the GameCube is a pre-school toy enjoyed by children and you.

Well it's hard to argue well when I'm angered. You're the one who brought it to the flaming area by bashing Nintendo. I don't know if it was the Asian stereotype thing that made me pissed, somehow implying Asians only play kiddy games or something, or Nintendo bashing. But it did make me pissed.

 that's quite sad. Getting pissed about a video game system being bashed? Come on now.

I don't get why you always have to dis me every single time. I never really dissed you, but every single time you have to cross the line or something. (And I assume you shall reply here with a dis?)

And now you're crying... if you spent more time researching your topic you wouldn't have to put up with me supposedly crossing the line.

My mom bought me a PSP as birthday present last September, and really didn't want to own it. The first two days it was cool, but then you start to find out all the problems it has. I keep playing Nintendo DS, because it's lot better console and it's more confortable for hands and resistant. Of course DS games are much better than PSP's ones, I can't play a GTA game on the bus, man! That's just weird! What the hell rockstar was thinking about? :|

Sony is pretty shortsighted with gaming. With the psp, the battery life and umd held it back. With the ps2, the delay in HD and online held it back and allowed the xbox to get a sizable market share.

It's just because when you are playing only to enjoy some minutes you're not looking for a hard game, with transition videos, etc. You want something fast to start playing with, like for example Super Mario Bros, or Tetris or even Pac-Man... I think Sony can't get the idea of a portable console. I don't know your case, but here in Spain people is afraid to play with that out of home so they buy the console and play at home. I think it's stupid to buy a portable console if you're going to use it that way, better buy an XBOX.
