Is getting your Learners Permit hard?

Postby ShAuN on Sun Apr 09, 2006 11:28 am

I know I need to take the test to get my permit, but is the test hard? How many questions do they ask you and how many are you allowed to get wrong?

Im turning 16 on Monday and I got the book on Thrusday, Ill probally wait till the weekand after my b-day to take the test so i can be ready for it.

But Im just curious, obviosuly it'll be difficult if you didnt read the book. But im just curious how hard is it, how many questions does the machine ask you, and how many are you allowed to get wrong?

It's not hard even though for some reason people fail it. I think its 30 questions and the most you can miss is 6. I missed 3 on my test.

Over here in QLD, it was split into two parts... Part A was showing u knew the give way rule. In Part B, it was sorta thoery by showing u know wat signs mean.

Part A u were only allowed 1 wrong, Part B u were allowed 2 wrong... I got it 100% so it was pretty easy. Just study ur book!

Are you seriously worried about the learner's permit test? I didn't study at all and I got 100% right. Most of it is common sense.

It's so easy to not only get your permit but your licesne, too. But this is coming from a driving pro.

Well I gota study the booklet, and pass the test. Then I can drive with my dad for 6 months or so then take the road test.

Riot, how many questions did the test ask you? I think every state differs.

HELL No the permit test isnt hard I passed with a 20/20

Basically, if you've ever rode in the car with your parents, and your 16, You'll do near perfect.

The road test isnt hard at all (atleast it doesnt seem)
I'm going in a few weeks, and The 4 things you have to do I'm very good at so I should pass.
Can't wait :D

Where I live it is a 50 question test and 80% is a pass, so you can get 10 wrong.

And it's pretty easy. You just have to watch out for technicality questions. Right of way stuff especially. And on ours there was a few 'what would you do if you were the red car' questions. Look for the word 'safely' or 'cautious' in your answer.

1. How far to you have to stop behind a stop sign.
a) 10 metres
b) 9 metres
c) 8 metres
d) 7 metres

or smethin like that

While driving, you turn left into a street and there are pedsestrians ahead crossing the road. Do you:

A) Give Way
B) Honk your Horn and Keep Driving
C) Keep Driving

^^ There was a question like that on my test! I was laughing pretty hard. Not sure what diagrams look like one your side of the world since you guys drive on the other side of the road...

One for the SA test:

If you're driving and approach a flock of sheep crossing the road, do you:

A) Beep your horn until they move
B) Try and heard the sheep out of the way with your car (wtf???)
C) Wait for the farmer to give you directions on how to pass

:?

What should you do if another driver attempts to overtake and pass you?

a. Move to the left so you cannot be passed
b. Slow down and move to the right
c. Speed up to get out of the way
d. Do not reduce your speed

For my boating license, the 'testers' gave me the answer. So it was like just going through the booklet and then discussing the questions and they'd tell us what we had to do. I only got 3 incorrect answers and of course I passed.

But that is for boating/jet-skiing etc.. mostly just water safety like life jackets.

Not so much weird questions, but weird South Australian terminology that you won't really know unless you've been there for years. They have some strange name for telegraph poles, that question nearly screwed me over. The test is online somewhere.

Yes it was hard. I took it on a computer and failed the first time , then passed the second time but barely. I think if you got 3 questions wrong you had to take it over.

Other than the permit test I failed the eye test that you have to take before the permit test so I didn't even get in the computer room the 1st time , technically. (N)

A, but I prefer B.

Not C, the farmer could be a killer.
B is far way better than A, but I would prefer leaving the testing room. I mean, sheep question in a driving test? WTF is that?

A is dangerous to you so don't do it.
B is right, but i prefer C and D. (Y)
