Has anyone here heard the kind of songs that are comming out today?

I'm n luv (wit a stripper) by T. Pain is insane . Wtf are people smoking when they make these kinds of songs? I admit I like this song , mostly because of the beat and the rhythm , but at the same time I am a lyric guy (pay attention to lyrics alot). There is also some Jewish guy doing reaggae , his mane is Matisyahu or something like that . Wtf ? Also , 90% of rap/r&b/hip-hop songs are about sex . What ever happened to songs like Rappers delight , walk this way , Keep ya head up , etc... There is also this song by Marcus Houston called "sex with you" . He describes what sex with a girl is like , and he uses money , new sneakers , game-winning shot , etc... to describe the feeling of sex . This is just a few songs , I know there are probably alot more songs that are bogus . I don't listen to rock that much thats why I'm ranting about this kind of music .

Now TV shows . What's up with all these "reality shows" ? There is one that has me heated up right now , I don't know what channel its on . It's called Black & White and the concept is something about switching races or some shit . Then theres all these other bogus shows like date my mom and trading spouses (stole that idea from dave chapelle) . Wow , sorry I'm ranting about nothing , its just that the world of today is retarted as hell.

damn where you been, all these songs are old. T-Pain is EXTREMELY OLD, and the Bubba Sparxx is gettin old. The STL rap scence better than the one in NYC, im guessin.

I dont' follow most rap except for Tupac and 50 cent so I will not comment on the songs.

I can however comment on the trash that is being shown on TV nowadays. When I was a kid growing up I would watch TV all the time because there were so many funny shows on. There was Family Matters with Urkel , Full House , Alf , Fresh Prince of Bel-Air , and Seinfeld. Nowadays all the filth on TV is horribly boring and uninteresting. Few shows of today can compare to the glorious TV of old when sitcoms that were ACTUALLY FUNNY like All in the Family were on instead of these new piece of shit sitcoms like "That 70's show." That 70's show is not funny , nor is Home Improvement. As for reality tv , they really have run out of ideas. The business of Reality TV basically requires you to copy off the success of another network's television show , which makes it idiotic. Since these fools cannot create their own ideas , they must conceive foolish copycats of mildly successful shows like "Dancing with the Stars" (Skating with celebrities) and "American Idol" (Star Search on CBS). Reality TV sucks , and provides absolutely nothing original. The only original reality TV shows are American idol (the first few weeks because Simon verbally abuses rookies who try to sing) and Knight School. If more reality TV shows related to sports (ie try out for a walk-on spot on any major college basketball program / NBA / NFL / NHL / MLB) I would be glad to watch. Unfortunately the idiots on network TV have not thought of this yet , hopefully they can copy off Knight School.

Anyway, I kinda agree with doobie. The thing is that it's not that sex/guns/material things is all rappers rap about, its that that stuff is the only thing that goes mainstream. For some reason conscious artists end up underground. Probably because nobody's ready to hear political opinions. Seriously, remember Jadakiss-Why? In the radio cut version of it they edited out "Why did Bush knock down the towers?" Seriously, its not fair or right. And now for some reason all people wanna hear is "I fucked that bitch/I stood on the block and now i got benz and I'm rich" type stuff.

I don't even think its fair that "conscious rap" is labeled "conscious". Guys that rap about God/Jesus are considered Christian artists. But guys that rap/sing about sex, drugs, material items are considered "rappers". Then it spreads to like everybody that listens. keepnitwanksta1, for instance, now don't know how to rap about real stuff. It really gives minorities an ignorant label. I'm sure keepnitwanksta1 couldn't tell us anything on wiretapping but could tell us everything on partying.

And I agree on the reality TV shows thing too. Crime-scene dramas are like that now too. First it was just Law & Order, then it's CSI, NCIS, and all kinds of stuff. Reality TV flat out sucks. I think Survivor was the best/closest thing to reality TV. You can actually see people's physical conditions decline, whereas shitbag shows like Laguna Beach or Real World are fake as hell. Actors on the Real World even said that the walls were paper thin, it's nothing but a big studio. Cops are fake, everything is fake. Notice how there's no normal looking, older, fatter people on these shows. You only see guys with six packs, young girls that look like models, and the occasional gay guy. Every fucking "reality" show has a gay guy for some reason too.

Reality TV has gone too far. At first it was a bit of a novelty but it was quickly run into the ground. I remember a quote from someone high up in Channel Ten here in Australia about Australians wanting more reality TV being a fact. Which I suppose explains the declining ratings and scathing attitude a lot of people seem to be developing of them.

The worst part of all is that the increasing lacking in creativity reality shows are taking timeslots away from scripted television that's actually worth watching.

It's a shame, there are some really good reality TV shows out there but they've gone into overkill....

Wife Swap, brilliant reality show and is always entertaining
Faking It, another great one that didn't rely on SMS votes or viewer interaction
My Big Fat Obnoxious Boss, hilarious Apprentice-style show where actors did all sorts of crazy things posing as billionaire CEO's while real life job applicants slowly went mad.

There were a few more, but compare that to the list of absolute garbage which you will find here and the ratio of good : bad is almost beyond comprehension. It's just overkill, but as long as people keep watching it they're going to keep making it.

Why would i want to hear that beat anyway? It went for like for 2-3 mins and was the same all the way. You need some more variety.

Music is dead. I haven't listened to a single piece of good music in any genre since who knows when. Especially anything that's popular nowadays is basically shit. Where did all the good rock bands go? Where is the hip hop with a message? Wasn't hip hop more about the message, not partying all day? Music is dead...at least until the new Radiohead or Muse album comes out.
