Rural or Urban?

Thu Mar 02, 2006 11:10 am

This is an issue I often think about. Would you rather live in the city or out in the country? I live in the country, and I often think about what it would be like in the city, close to my friends.

As I am now, it's tough to get together with them because I have to organize it in advance. On the flip side, I love where I live, it's so quiet and peaceful, and open. I love the outdoors, so being where I am is awesome for me; I can go outside and look at the stars, which I wouldn't be able to do in the city.

Opinions?

City man. I love the hustle anbd bustle of it! (Y)

The country is way too quiet for me.

Well I use to live in the rural areas.
Quiet, Peaceful and no crimes.
Everyone knew everyone and it wasn't hard getting around places.
Now I live in the city. More better and alot of things to do.
I also am a city man.

I live in the urban and love it here. Its just "more up to date". You know what I mean? Just seems like there is more to do here and more places to go like downtown and other great places. Don get me wrong, the rural is beautifal, but i just prefer it here in the urban more.

I don't mind where i am as long as i have my friends living there aswell.

Cos beer + mates can make the most out of any place at any time!

Huh. You guys, excluding Nick, are shallow. :shake:

I pose to you another related question:

Would you rather sleep over at a friend's house or go camping in the middle of nowhere with a friend? You can guess what my answer would be. :)

I was born in Brooklyn. Take a guess.

Thu Mar 02, 2006 1:10 pm

I was born in Toronto..so I am basically a city man..i love it..it's great! waking up in the morning see people with their coffee and iPods. (Y)

Well, I'm all the way in rural Ottawa, and things are pretty normal I guess...Downtown is a good fair amount of time away, and it takes awhile just to get to a shopping mall. Flipside is that I used to have cows grazing in my backyard 2 years ago. :|

been in the big apple for 15 years now.. urban life is nice, tho it can be annoying at times

Thu Mar 02, 2006 1:50 pm

Bad thing about urban is that it has way more crime than rural. In urban, people get shot and robbed... in rural not that much, usually people stealing your crops or corn or w/e...lol

I'm a city kid but in all honesty , I like rural areas. I Love those quiet places , with no problems over there.

Thu Mar 02, 2006 2:15 pm

all of my friends love the city... i like chinese cities, but not american ones.. so if i am in america, i would prefer the countryside, or smaller towns.

Thu Mar 02, 2006 2:16 pm

I was born in Moscow and moved to Denver. I'd never live in a country, way toooo boring.

Thu Mar 02, 2006 3:02 pm

I'd never live in a country,

the USA isn't a country?

Thu Mar 02, 2006 3:14 pm

i would say island but denver and moscow are both a good distance from any big water source. i think he meant country environment though, rural pretty much

Thu Mar 02, 2006 3:15 pm

I live in rural NC, and it really sucks. Stupid rednecks flying through the school parking lot... have to be careful not to get ran over. When I walk into the actual building, there are at least 30 of them surrounding the entrance, spitting tobacco left and right... it's like trying to avoid being rained on *puke*

There is nothing appealing about living in the country. The people aren't as nice as they're advertised... rednecks especially. There are no good restaurants!!! Not only that, but you have to drive everywhere. When I was little, I could never visit any of my friends unless I could harass my mom into driving me there, which was rare.

As soon as I finish college, I'm heading straight for Atlanta. 8-)

Thu Mar 02, 2006 3:37 pm

I've lived in both, I prefer the city because everything's alot more acccessable and way more options open up for you.

Thu Mar 02, 2006 3:38 pm

City because i like being around everything, out in the country your like 100 miles away from everything,

Thu Mar 02, 2006 3:43 pm

My area is considered to be rural but it's the second biggest city in the state. I don't mind the city but the city center is 15mins away and i hate getting driven cos its just boring, i dont know why but it shits me. My grandparents live in the rural area around 30 mins away from my house and i dont mind it up there because they have a go-kart and i drive around in that 8-)

Thu Mar 02, 2006 4:08 pm

Just get a house in th eheart of teh city AND a retreat home somewhere. Saves the trouble of wondering what being in the other situation would feel like.

Thu Mar 02, 2006 4:23 pm

Im a city bitch but our grandparents have a farm in Melborune that we go to in holidays and its great becuase its more relaxing.

Thu Mar 02, 2006 5:56 pm

A) I would never want to raise my future children in an urban environment. I prefer the suburbs.

B) Sleep over a friends' house when I was younger; I always hated camping.

Thu Mar 02, 2006 6:43 pm

I prefer something in-between. Somewhere peaceful but not primitive and boring. Some place where I can party but at the same time get some shut eye and relaxation if I want

Thu Mar 02, 2006 7:02 pm

Im a city bitch
