Where to go...

Tue Feb 21, 2006 6:09 pm

... if I were to study in the US for a year?

I've been looking into the study opportunities when it comes to going on a student exchange program. My uni is associated with the following US colleges:

- California State University
- Iowa State University
- Purdue University
- State University of New York at Stony Brook
- State University of New York at Plattsburgh
- University of Baltimore <-- Apparantly elite cause only 3 Law students from here allowed there per semester...
- University of California
- University of Illinois
- University of Massachusetts
- University of Richmond

I just wanted an opinion on which one I should consider out of the list above... I wanna start saving up for it now as well. When making a decision, I wanna know which area would be the safest and which one would be the best college to go to if I was studying Laws.

Thanks!

University of California at Irvine (Y)
Definitely safe here in white suburbia...
The pre-law classes (politcal science) classes are supposedly pretty decent here and we got a graduate law school here too

Exchange student? Couldnt they just deport you? I suggest going to the college of Beijeing and never weturning.

maybe you could elaborate for the American guys....what are you looking for in your uni experience....good weather? good academically? :? good party life? 8-) big city or small college town?

if I were you I would avoid colleges in the big cities, meaning avoiding Los Angeles, Baltimore, etc....one exception might be New York, which might be a good experience, but it's not something I would do....

UC-Irvine sounds good if that's an option, depending on which University of California it is....

good luck, if you go, I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun....

University of Illinois has a great campus and great atmosphere

Looking for a good place to study but also to party at the same time! (Y)

I dunno.. I think I prefer the city rather than a small country town to tell you the truth. I hate it when it's quiet!

Bascially... anywhere thats friendly!

Wed Feb 22, 2006 7:41 am

Sit , the thing is , City's aren't that friendly around here. Parties ,yes .Fights , yes. If you want a friendly place , I'd say Massachussets. Party , California... or New York.

Remember this .... City and Friendly don't go together.

Hey Sit, search around teh web... You'd be amazed how much info you'll be able to accumulate on cities and campuses. (Y)

Go to the University of Minnesota! It has a campus right in Minneapolis and it can be a party town and a quiet town. You can do both!

Wed Feb 22, 2006 8:04 am

don't go to U of Illinois if you want to study Law

Wed Feb 22, 2006 8:11 am

You really want to play against a 3rd string point guard? Hahah, oh well I'm sure he's experienced in filling water bottles up :)

Only when you go back to Moron Mountain.

A space jam joke? Haha are you serious? I wonder if you pulled that from encarta as well, whilst you were staying up looking up precedents and posting at a nba live forum

Wed Feb 22, 2006 1:17 pm

Doobie's right...I love the city more than anything but if you want friendly go somewhere else.

Wed Feb 22, 2006 1:22 pm

Well if he goes to Stony Brook, maybe he can live with Mazz!
