A new kind of specialised email scam?

Got a laugh at out of this, thought others might too. Every now and again I'll get a strange question in my nba-live.com inbox (or I'll be mistaken for the head of the NBA Live production team and flamed) and this is one of them:

Worldre is my name from Nigeria,l wanna be the member
nbaliveforum. Also,am a fans of Miami heat and l didnt
have any miami product with me,moreover l wish 2 be
the part of people that will watch Nba live in
U.S.A,can l have a sporsor and when l get to State l
will work to pay back. GOD BLESS U.S.A .

Just to clarify, I don't mean to make light of any hardships or the living conditions in Nigeria, but rather the email scams that have been circulating for at least six years now. I've received similar emails in the past asking for financial aid or to help launch a career in the NBA (that fellow even sent me a resume in the hopes I could help him make the NBA).

I think I'm being mistaken for someone rich and powerful. Which is flattering, I guess.

I'm thinking about making a thread with all of the dodgy emails we get.

One of my favourite emails came after I'd been trying to help a fellow with a patch for NBA Live 2001. It just wouldn't work and he appeared to be doing everything correctly. In the end I had to admit I'd run out of ideas and really wasn't sure what else to suggest at that point. He responded simply with "fuck u", which was lovely considering I'd been doing all I could to help him for four or five emails.

I got one the other day from some media rep. asking me if there'd be a media section at the All-Star game... we're as big as the NBA, I think.

A lot of people do seem to confuse the NLSC as being part of EA Sports (which is understandable given how big the site has become and the kind of coverage we provide) or somehow affiliated with the NBA. I don't think people read copyright notices or disclaimers; no wonder our society is so litigious these days.

Oh, I got something similar a couple of times before. Some guy was supposedly being chased by a bunch of goons and I need to access some bank account in some european country

I was bit disappointed, there wasn't another one when I logged in this morning. Andreas forwarded me the email about applying for a position in the NBA with the attached resume.

I am writing to apply for a place of player in NBA. Please see my CV below.

I have a degree in basket-ball from FBA ( AFRICA ). I have been playing basket ball since my childhood , I was and I still the best player in my country with smiliar players in the same category as me , if not say in the whole continent ,but unfortunately no one cares about me , so now I feel my basket ball is going vainly , so I always dream that I 'll be player in NBA in any team because here in ALGERIA , the staff of Sports don't care with the athletics and players , they don't help the player to be a professional or to develop his level , there are none high school of sports due to the bad government and commissions ( the Third World ) .

Damn, that's sad. Just reminded me of the movie I saw last night, The Constant Gardener.

The thing is, I am very skeptical about them because there do remind me greatly of the email scams that have cheated more than a couple of people out of a great deal of money.
