MLB Teams showing true colors

Postby DGenerate23 on Fri Jan 20, 2006 5:04 pm

major league baseball is showing its true colors by most teams trying to prohibt players from playing in the WBC yes injurys are a chance but u dont see NBA teams from blocking their big stars from playing in the olympics where the compettion is yes much higher with more at stake but still i think MLB players that want to play should be allowed to play it would greatly help a sport that is trying to still regain its fan base after that distastourous 94 season

Well the team is the one investing the big bucks in the player so they should have some say in whether or not a guy plays or not. If you spend 10 mil on a guy and was worried about a nagging injury he had (or anyhting else for that matter) would you send him out there and risk ruining your investment?

The fact that the WBC is in its infancy plays a part. It has the chance to be big, but it's just a project for now, and some teams feel it's not that big of deal in order for them to risk their investments. I'm all for it, though, this is the World Cup Soccer equivalent. (Y)

Tarheel, Mark Cuban tried to stop Dirk from playing in the 2002 world championships. And nothing is close to the world cup in soccer.. its like saying the paraolympics are the equivilent to the olympics. technically you are right, but realistically its nothing alike. This WBC is a mickey Mouse competition and will be until Cuba is allowed to participate.

You're right, I forgot to input 'has the potential to turn into' before 'World Cup Soccer'. (Y)

IMO the "WBC" isn't necessary. it's knee jerk propaganda by Bud Selig amidst the steroid debacle in MLB (N)
