Anybody of you heard of this movie? The story is about the first time 5 black players played on the court in College and won a title I believe. I think it's a good way to pay tribute to black people rather than having rapper stories in da hood nah mean  . I'm gonna see this movie for sure. (Y)

Yeah coming soon.

I heard about it, should be decent. I'll probably go check it out.

Sat Jan 14, 2006 2:23 am

its not listed in the 'coming soon' bit of a big australian cinema thingoe...

:? looked good too

The cover's not very well designed. I thought Coach Carter was a good movie based on a true story, so this one might live up.

Sat Jan 14, 2006 2:51 am

i liked coach carter, didnt expect i would either

None of these movies are really "real"... when Coach Carter (which is a very good movie) came out, alot of reports of complete inaccuracies were coming out all over the place, I'm seeing them pop up for this movie now too.

There was one quote in Coach Carter, when I HS kid was being touted as the next LeBron james... LaBron was about 5 or something when the events of teh movie were supposed to be taking place..

Sat Jan 14, 2006 3:15 am

It doesnt even matter to me whether its a true story or not. It is either good or bad.

Sat Jan 14, 2006 3:16 am

But...that's why it says "based on". If it was a "remake of actual events" I'd understand. This is just inspired by it.

Lax, this movie will go straight to DVD in Australia, just like Coach Carter did.

I know! That's my biggest complaint. That part just about ruined the whole movie.

Sports movies tend to be a bit boring and predictable...... players overcome hardships and end up winning a championship... or in the case of Remember the Titans, one of them died, which made it a pretty good movie.

I agree, this is probably the same as all those other basketball movies out there. Struggles early on, end up winning.
I'll probably watch this one anyway, but I'm pretty sure it won't be up there with my favorites movies.
And yeah, 'Remember the Titans' was nice. I only saw that one a couple months ago.

I still haven't seen it, thanks for ruining the ending hass hole. :x

Sat Jan 14, 2006 9:20 am

I saw it yesterday on Jan 12th, 06. Me and like 170 other students went to a screener and some of the Raptors payed. Chris Bosh, Charlie V, Joey Grahm, Mo Pete, and Matt Bonner were there, they talked about making the right decisions in life and staying in school.

and IT WAS AN AWSOME MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hollywood secret: Always say 'based on' in case you screw something up.

Its pretty acurate when it coems to playing the game, I mean the scences where they play teh games is actually realistic, i mean I saw a comparison betwen the basketball games in the movie and to what actually happened and it was pretty simular (I saw it at the end of the movie and on BET).

The Longest Yard too. (Y)

What I like the most about "Glory Road" is the basic theme of the movie , which was its historical signifigance in the world of sports. Without the 5 all-black starters winning the NCAA championship over heavily favored Kentucky racial integration would have been set back. As producer of Glory Road Jerry Bruckheimer said , Michael Jordan probably never would have gone to UNC and Magic Johnson would have never went to college. It was a turning point in the world of sports and changed the landscape for the better in college basketball.

Despite the historical signifigance and my love for college basketball I do not know if I will see it. Few movies have made me get up off the chair and go to the movie theater , where they charge 5 dollars for parking! :| This movie may be one of those that is worth the extra 5 dollars.

Well VA Tech is cheap, we have meters here but not a toll.

Yeah I agree with you on the two MJs, but Wilt, Baylor and Russel were stars at that time in the NBA, so it wouldn't have been totally segregated.

Sat Jan 14, 2006 2:19 pm

Sounds interesting. But like what Jae said. It's probably not that accurate like in the case of Coach Carter. From what I've read. The players hated Coach Carter's guts even after they graduated or something

Sat Jan 14, 2006 2:26 pm

I'm definately seeing this, it came out today; it's exactly my kind of movie, the uplifting sports story
