BMW M3 or a WRX STi

Postby beau_boy04 on Mon Dec 26, 2005 6:26 pm

What's a better buy?

M5 is out of my price range unfortunately lol.

Please advice accordingly.

Thank you and have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2006.

For someone who makes his living on the forums grave digging 3 year old threads, I'm a bit surprised you didn't find the original one you made.

We're not bashing you because of the car question, we're bashing you because of you creating the same topic that you have also made in the past.

Hmph... ok, here goes, just common knowledge though.

You want Grand Turismo? Comfort combined with speed? BMW M3 is for you. Perfect for maintaining high average speeds in long distance travels, plus can you can have a lot of fun in narrow roads with tight corners, as well.

But if narrow roads or tight cornering is your only fixation, then go with the Subaru, because that is where it and the Mitsubishi Evo are kings. It can be frustrating maintaining high average mph or kph with the Sti , as it is not built for that purpose.

In short:

Gran Turismo: BMW
WRC-style tight driving: Subaru.

Id go with the M3. Lets see:

M3

STi
Image

The M3 Looks SOOOOO Much better. They both run 4.8 Seconds from 0-60mph. The M3 Tops out at 155mph, but were are you really gonna be able to hit 155?? Not sure about the STi. The M3 is alot more expensive than the STi. But it looks so much better. The M3 makes more horsepower too.

I say u go with a M3. Whatever u want, but Id get an M3 in a second over a STi

FUCK the STI looks like shit. Good for the snow, but go with the M3. If you wanted to save some money, fuck them and by a new 2005 Mustang or a Nissan 350Z. Like Malfa said, go Stick, so much more fun to drive.

Yeah, MP3 > STi, atleast WMP can play an MP3. A .STi file is unknown to WMP. :(

BMW comes with a six-speed manual transmission or optional Sequential Manual Gearbox (SMG). Of course I will be getting a stick transmission. That's all I drive. My first car was automatic transmission but that's so boring. With a stick transmission though it could get kinda tiring in heavy traffic. Either way stick is the way to go.

I wonder how much higher my insurance premiun will be with a M3 compared to a STi.

BMW's SMG gearbox is fantastic. The response times are a ctually better than manually shifting gear. I would recommend the SMG, hands down.

I don't mind it either actually. Then again If I had the cash to buy either of these I think I'd give both of them a miss and pick something better.
