Yes and No it affects people in NJ.

In short, The MTA, NYC Transit ( all the trains and buses) are on strike is out of service. Over 7million people take it daily. Now they have to find alternatives to get around.
NYC is litterly shut down you can say.

Well day 1 of the strike is over. The city lost about an estimated $400million due to strike today.
Going into day 2 now, I wonder how long it will last

I would be surprised if it lasts longer. Eventually people are going to get livid if they can't ride buses or subways and have to continue experiencing what happened in day 1. Plus a judge is fining the MTA union 1 million dollars every day the strike goes on. Soon someone will cave in and a deal will be reached.

NYC transit is the heart of NY. We have the best transit in the whole USA, possibly world ( maybe toyko, japan is better dunno)
NYC is one of the few places you can get around good without needing a car. There is a reason over 7million use it daily.

I'd hate to be packed in with so many people all the time. I'd feel like a sardine.
