Wow.

So apparently Oprah filmed an alternate version of her show and had it broadcast only to Chapelle's house, Minister Farrakhan had Malcom X killed, and Chapelle walked out of his shower to find three men hired by the Dark Crusaders in his bathroom. I guess it is a theory.

After reading the whole thing, I must admit, it makes sense. But why are people taking his show so seriously? I mean, it's comedy, a lot of people get made fun of. Like Oprah, that bi*** gotta calm herself.

It would be scary to wake up at night and have a colt 45 pointed at you and two other people holding you down, and your wife (who is right next to you) sleeping like nothings happeneing. And getting out of the shower and 3 people you don't even know waiting right there. Freaky shit. And it seems like the Police aren't going to do anything. What a shame.

I really don't understand why Chappelle was forced to stop his show. It confuses me because, wow he made fun or joked around about black people in his show, but hey, he also joked around about white people, and he makes fun of white people the most, he also makes fun of asians, but mostly white people. So what's the big deal? I mean he is making fun of basically everybody.

After reading the whole thing, I must admit, it makes sense.

It made sense until about this point:
" On Tuesday, while watching an episode of the Oprah Winfrey show, Chappelle recalled being completely stunned when Winfrey turned to the camera in the middle of interviewing Tom Cruise and said "Dave Chappelle, you should be ashamed of yourself for airing that Niggars sketch on your show this week, I'm going to make sure you never work in Hollywood again."

The image, allegedly taped by Winfrey, and transmitted to Chappelle's house under the direction of Robert L. Johnson who called in some favors with Chappelle's local affiliate station manager, terrified Chappelle. "

It just stayed riduculous.

"This reached its apex when Chappelle emerged from the shower one morning to find the three men sitting in his bathroom. By Chappelle's account, they told him "If we can get into your home this easily David, imagine what we can do to you if we really wanted to hurt you."

And it kept going.

"Oprah Winfrey leaned forward and whispered in my ear "you better watch your step — we're representing interests more powerful than you can imagine. You do remember that Farrakhan killed Malcom, and that Cosby, Johnson and I have more money than God"

Parts of it are credible, certainly entertaining but I have my doubts to say the least. I can buy the idea of pressure from other prominent black people in the industry and in politics forcing him out but not to the extremes described on that site.

Much of the theory relies heavily on our desire to reveal celebrities with a wholesome images as having truly dark sides. It's hard to believe someone as charitable and caring as Oprah would break into Dave Chappelle's house with hired muscle and threaten him whilst he's being held at gunpoint. It's one of those things that's supposed to be so unbelievable it's the truth, fact being stranger than fiction. I don't quite buy it.

If indeed he was pressured into cancelling the show (or toning it down to the point where he just wanted to cancel it) I don't think it would have been through the means described on that site, at the hands of "Dark Crusaders"...which is also a weird part of the whole story since given the stance the celebrities are supposed to have, I doubt they'd give themselves such a name.

I say he either got burned out doing TV or was facing notes (either censorship or otherwise) from the network and decided to pull the plug.
