Reading the title, it seemed that you were happy about going to college, but reading your post and seeing those emoticons, makes it seem like you're unhappy. Im confused.

Wed Dec 14, 2005 11:19 am

tears of joy... :D

Wed Dec 14, 2005 11:27 am

Congrats :|

Wed Dec 14, 2005 11:33 am

Congrats. (Y) What are you going to be doing there (aside from the usual extra-curricular activities of course ;))?

Wed Dec 14, 2005 11:34 am

Whoo hoo!!

Wed Dec 14, 2005 11:48 am

Congrats.
Hope you have fun.
Try not to JUST hang around with Koreans. (Dunno if you do, but that's what most Koreans do around here.)
Also, if your parents kept on telling you lies like "You'll get to have fun as much as you like and you won't have to study in college!" then you fell for the worst Asian lie in the world. (Well in my case anyhow.)

Wed Dec 14, 2005 11:50 am

Why does it have to be an asian lie? Why do you bring race into college talk . Anyways , good luck in college , next year i have to send out letters to college. Hoping on going to Penn State or Boston U. , maybe even Old Dominion.

Wed Dec 14, 2005 11:52 am

Lol, thanks guys. Yeah Bang, I have a pretty diversified groups of friends so it'll be all good. I'll be studying either Electrical engineering or Statistical engineering (yeah, I know typical...) but my parents are pushing for me to go pre-med (yeah, I know typical...) I'm so pumped right now but I still have to study for finals (yeah, I know typical...)

Oh because my parents (I'm Korean as well) always kept on saying that lie. "You'll get into college and you won't have to study anymore! So keep studying hard until you graduate from college!" Yea, I believed that only to realize I have more work in college than in HS. I didn't mean anything racial...It's just that it seems Asian parents tend to use that argument way more than others...maybe other parents say that too. So, if anyone going to college hears that lie, they are lying to you! You don't necessarily party all night in college. :(

Wed Dec 14, 2005 12:07 pm

Oh man, congrats, those are great news! (Y) (Y) (Y)
What will you be studying there?

Wed Dec 14, 2005 12:09 pm

I'll be studying either Electrical engineering or Statistical engineering

Have fun Kev (Y)

:| Why in the world would you go to college? You'll be paying off those student loans forever! Join the Army and get free college! Join the Army of One!

Wed Dec 14, 2005 1:58 pm

I'm not a citizen, and if you're a Rice graduate, the loans will be gone within 5 years 8-)

Wed Dec 14, 2005 2:02 pm

Well, fuck you then.

Wed Dec 14, 2005 2:23 pm

5 years? Damn, I'm debt free after I graduate, not to mention I'll have a surplus, and my only income are summer jobs. Good ol' Canadian universities, and people bitch how high tuition is here.

Btw, congrats on making it to Rice University!

Wed Dec 14, 2005 3:21 pm

Congratulations!

Be sure you have a major and path set. I went into Virginia Tech as a freshman engineering major confident of my ability to master engineering...unfortunately things did not work out I fell all the way to a 1.9 GPA because of stupid engineering classes and was in fact suspended. I eventually made it back but the moral of the story is to be sure what you want to major in.

Wed Dec 14, 2005 4:34 pm

congrast KevC, and you will have to study, believe me... I paid dearly for not studying this last quarter

Wed Dec 14, 2005 6:51 pm
