How The Saga Began ...

Tue Dec 13, 2005 10:26 am

It seems I've reached 2000 posts. How about that.

I didn't make a 1k post thread because I figured I hadn't been here long enough to get to know everyone, so shoutouts would be next to useless. Here I am at 2000, and I think I know you guys well enough now, so on with the shoutout, but before I get there ...

Like most of us, I came here to get Andrew's roster update, that was back in July. Unlike most of us, I joined that same day under the name PiotraPower to post about a problem with the roster (the name lasted probably a week before I changed it permenantly, I'll get to why later on). Once I realized the size of the forums, I knew I had to explore. I came across Bassman58's jersey tutorial, and that lead me to making jerseys constantly, which meant I had to keep coming back. My life hasn't been the same since. Eventually I discovered the rest of the forum, and along the way many laughs. It'll be hard to leave here now, for me this is the first forum I've been a part of, and up until about a week-and-a-half ago, I didn't even have MSN, so this is really my first glimpse at the Internet community. Now to the rest of my story ...

I think I'm the only one here besides Jugs who gets called by his nickname outside of the forums. 'Cable Guy' was given to me by my basketball coach last year at tryouts. It was my first year of high-school, and I didn't know any of the coaches. It so happened that was around the time I'd sprained my ankle, so along with my headband I was also wearing ankle braces. Well, that obviously was familiar to the coach, because he started calling me Cable Guy, after the movie. It took me a day to realize he was speaking to me  .The name stuck, and I liked it too. I'd say about half the people I know at school only know me as Cable Guy, because that's all any of the Phys. Ed. teachers call me. It took me less than a week to change my username from PiotraPower (old nickname I had at elementary school) to Cable Guy. I don't know about you, but I think Cable Guy has a ring to it. If you didn't figure it out, PiotraPower comes from Piotra, which means 'Peter' in Russian, I think. That'd be my name.

On with the shoutouts. If I miss you, it's because either I don't know you well enough, or you haven't been around for a while and I didn't remember you. Oh yeah, these are in a specific order yeah, the one I wrote them in

Andrew - I think it's got to be a tradition by now to start with you. You do such a great job, I figured you had to be at least 25, up until recently when I saw you're 21 somewhere. That means you started this site when you were what, 17, 18?

Jae - Funniest guy here, hands down. I never miss a thread with your name under 'Last Post', it'd be a crime. I still wonder how you ever became a mod ...

cyanide - Mod to be, anyone? And you're Canadian too. You make a great contribution here (Y)

Riot - Riot, Riot, Riot. Why can't you go back to posting like this? Ease off on the politics and have some fun, and write shorter posts too. Just for you: Bush :hump:

Legend - At first I thought you were much like cy. Boy was I wrong. You guys are nothing alike. You post stuff that's borderline spam, but it's all funny as hell, so I forgive you. Keep up the good work

Jackal - How you became a mod is more of a mystery than how Jae did. Awesomely funny and witty, and not one to back down to a challenge. Woot-woot! (I don't know why I wrote that)

DoobieKnicks - I love you man. No really, I do. Really. Seriously. Okay, maybe I don't. Loving the sig  . Change to BoobieDicks already.

Its_asdf - Love the name, and the attitude. Props for getting your attitude across through text. Fuck off for not liking hockey, you should be ashamed to be Canadian :shake:

nbalive744 - You're not chezzy. Get it in your head. Thanks for helping me patch, it goes a long way

streetballaz1 - If you post in complete sentences, my respect for you will go way up. Thanks for the files and the screens.

j.23 - Give the fuck up with the threads about gay stuff. We know you're gay.

Jugs - Show us the pics!

Colin - Damn fine artist, and witty too. I didn't realize you were more than a PS guy. I've got one question, with no offense meant in any way. Are you black?

Jona + Drex - How Jonex came about, I don't know. Both funny guys, and Drex, get a haircut

c0nr4d - When I get as good as you at jersey patching, let me know, okay? That's my goal now.

shadowgrin - Always got a smart-ass comment, don't you? You seem to have a knack to pick up on what others miss.

Sit - Fucking best writer here. Your dynasty is amazing. Wait, I just realized you're in China right now. Fuck.

Mickey - Thanks for adding me to the team. Your cyberfaces are amazing, everything you make is awesome.

The Other Kevin - Usually the first to post in a new thread, or right after something funny, so I tend to skip over your posts by accident. However, they are quite funny to read.

Mazz - What's up with the weird threads? I don't know where you find this stuff, but some of it is classic (Y)

Jowe - I don't know you too well, but from what I can see you've got a wicked sense of humour. Where's Paradise City? I need a vacation.

Indy - I've never seen someone so dedicated to a team. I never did get to know why you like Indiana if you live in Chicago, though.

jxuusa - Always have a nice comment for anyone, don't you? Great dynasty, show some love to the bottom 10, will you

trecenters - New guy, I hope you stick around

FendeR` - Post more often FendeR`, your stuff is gold (Y)

If I missed you, post, and I'l decide whether or not to add you to the list.

Now, seeing as I see these threads as chance to spam, I'm going to add a little twist to this one. Along with your congratulations, I want you to post how you see me in you head (ex. how we all see Andrew as Conan O'Brian because of his avatars). Let's see what you really think of me

Thanks and congrats. (Y) Yes, I took over the site after Tim started working for EA Sports while I was still in my teens but I didn't found the site. Tim did that and I believe he was in his 20s and at university when he did.

Thank you and congrats on your little milestone. Stick around.

Tue Dec 13, 2005 11:29 am

Thanks for the shout out, and as for mod, we all seem fine around here but that's all up to Andrew, really ;)

I enjoy reading your posts, and it's great to see you're enjoying yourself here. I thought about suggesting to Jae to ban you since your sig practically begs it, but you're Canadian  I've always wondered this, do you also look like Jim Carrey?

Oh, I've seen Jugs' "jugs" pictures.

Edit: I've seen your picture before. Don't know why it didn't register in my brain; I guess I've known you as Jim Carrey a little too much :)

Tue Dec 13, 2005 1:24 pm

Thank you for the shout out and congrats on 2,000

You want me to post shorter posts? Perhaps I shall. I think the interesting part of that is you want me to contribute more to the forum by posting less. I guess some would call that an insult and I could see how you could come to that stunning conclusion. However, I must say that if I did indeed post less per post then my overall "quality rating" would drop dramatically.

I created a simple formula where for each line I add a point and then at the end I multiply it by 10. So in that one post that you posted in my shout out I would have 10 points because it only had two lines. But I get an extra two points for a reference to a violent murder and another two points for framing someone else on a crime you committed. So I had a total of 14 "quality points" for that one post. Interesting enough, on my other more political posts (something like this) I counted 12 lines which equals 120 points. But then you have to factor in the +5 for the pro-American stance. So that is 125 points without even mentioning the fact that I had a capitalized word to emphasize a specific point (TON). That right there is about +20 points simply because I'm trying to prove a valid point. So if you want to keep track, that is 145 points and then you get another 5 points for having my name on the post.

So the bottom line is this, you want me to post less "quality posts" per my rating, however you feel that is a bonus to society. I found this intriguing. Why would you want me to post less "quality posts", according to my highly accruate rating? I was eating an apple and it came to me. The reference to committing a murderous/violent act. So if I can limit my lines in a post and add more insanity and violence into it I would be doing this forum a favor. So then I thought what would happen if I combined the violent/murderous reference with the long post and I realized that mixing and matching with such posts would create such an atomic post that man would not be able to comprend it. Much like this post.

Did I mention, congrats?

Tue Dec 13, 2005 1:28 pm

Shut up Riot.

Anyways, congrats Glove Guy, and thanks for the shoutout.

If you want to know why I'm an Indiana fan, get a time machine, go back in time to 1990, ask the little 4 year old kid with the Reggie jersey on. He might know.

Tue Dec 13, 2005 1:34 pm

Did I mention, congrats?

 Bastard

And Indy, it's Cable Guy. That really hurts.

Tue Dec 13, 2005 1:36 pm

I put a lot of work into that post.

Tue Dec 13, 2005 1:46 pm

No worries, I especially enjoyed that post. Your quality posting abilities just shot through the roof. At least for today.

HAHA!! I called him Glove Guy. Speaking of which, where has GG been?

Tue Dec 13, 2005 2:23 pm

Thanks for the shoutout, and congrats on 2000. You beat me to 2000 posts even though you joined later than me. Always good to have a guy from Ontario that knows Raptor ball.

Oh yeah, and Hockey blows. I was actually happy when there was a lockout because sportsnet and TSN were being shitbags and were always showing hockey games and they seem too infatuated with the sport. Last time I checked, "sportsnet" included the word "sports" in it. Fags.

Edit: It was either hockey or curling. WHO THE FUCK WATCHES THAT POOR EXCUSE FOR BOWLING ON ICE?
