Stop Bullfighting

Sat Dec 10, 2005 3:06 am

I just watched on TV a short broadcast of bullfighting. First I noticed that there were decorations on his back, colorful sticks hanging down. But when the camera zoomed closer, they're swords! And there are blood all over his body. So I'm confused, I never knew that bullfighting includes harming or killing the bull. So then one guy came in with that usual red cloth, after a while when I can see the bull is really weak. The bullfighter tries to put another sword on him! What the fuck kind of national sports is this. It's so damn cruel. I know it's Spain's main culture, their dances... their songs... are all based on bullfighting.
Culture or Cruelty?
Imo this is really cruel and dangerous, imagine playing a game... People keep inserting swords into your back. You don't die, but you'll slowly lose power as your organs in your body gets sliced... You're totally paralyzed then they stuck another sword in you to kill you.

End this sport. Yes or No, why?

I'd do it just to piss off the Spanish.

Sat Dec 10, 2005 3:54 am

Yes, stop bullfighting.

Go dogfighting!

(Sorry, I have to, the Knicks signed Qyntel Woods)

That's a tough one, but I'd say end the killing. I think they did the same stuff with Gladiators back in the days, and they're not around anymore, so...

Yeah, but we have to draw a line between less-evolved animals and humans.
Bullfighting has been Spain's tradition since I don't know when.

Do I consider it useless? Yes.
Do I think it's cruel to the animal? Yes.
Should it stop? I don't think so.

¿Algún español acá que me ayude con argumentos?

EDIT:

I'm sorry, but culturally they are COMPLETELY different things (even though esentially they are the same).
Bullfighting has a ceremonious tradition since centuries ago. Dogfighting is exclusively made for profit and underground wagering.
In Spain and Mexico, bullfighting is a traditional event, much more serious than dogs.

Just because it's a ceremonious tradition since centuries ago doesn't mean it isn't inhumane and shouldn't be stopped. Centuries ago it was a ceremonious tradition to gather all of the supposed "witches", have trials and then burn them alive. Lets bring that one back.

Different species Jae.

It's irrelevant. There are laws in place to protect animals just as there are laws to protect humans.

If you're going to use that however, then I'll use this:

So dog fighting is wrong because it's made exclusively for profit, but bull fighting is fine because it's a ceremonious tradition?

That's basically what I'm stating.

I went to a live bullfightting match. I had 0 expectations, and I expected to bored since I generally turn to another channel if they showed bullfighting in TV...Well I've got to say it was one of the best sporting events I went to. Damn it was fun. If you really don't like bullfighting, go see one if you dare. It's fun as hell!
PETA is the devil anyway: http://www.muchosucko.com/video-penntellervspeta.html

Sat Dec 10, 2005 6:23 am

But what's the point of it? :? The confrontation between 10+ men with swords and sticks against one bull who doesn't know what the fuck is going on.

Wow, I didn't know that... After that signing I guess New York is now my favourite team.

Sat Dec 10, 2005 3:38 pm

I thin it's cruel. I understand it's a tradition and everything but that still doesn't make it alright for me. At least don't kill the bull.

Sat Dec 10, 2005 3:53 pm

You are right bang, PETA can go to hell.

Sat Dec 10, 2005 5:26 pm
