Well for some licensing reason I guess they changed their name to football manager. I just downloaded the demo and I've been playing almost non stop. Amazing game, as were all the previous Championship Managers. I'm considering maybe doing a dynasty story probably here since I don't know where else to put it, (like all those nba dynasty stories.) if I have enough time after I finish exams or go into reading period.
Anyhow, do try the demo. I have no idea how long the demo lasts or in what shape or form is the demo limited. Maybe it has a 30 day limit or something. Still anyhow, pretty fun if you're a "soccer" fan.
Oh yea, could anyone recommend a young unknown good defender that might develop pretty well? My team needs defense...badly.

I've been playing it for a few months now, I'm split on my opinions of it... the demo isn't really too representative of the real game, it's too tactical for my liking and I'm not really into changing everything for each individual game. Some people are happy to study every team they play and make adjustments accordingly, but if you're playing 30+ games a season that gets a bit old.
As far as young unknown defenders go, I'll give you some names if you tell me what team/budget you're looking at.

I picked up the game a few weeks ago, haven't really had much of a chance to get into it yet.
Started a game with Napoli though.

I've got one plodding away slowly with Parma. The second season in this game is a complete bitch... you can dominate the first season, and then no matter what you do the next you're always going to get beaten. It's annoying.

I am currently using Manchester United. Maybe my defensive problems will disappear somewhat when Roy Keane comes back, but then again he is quite old. The only significant roster change I made was bring in Park Joo Young. (Who is a good young striker btw. Only 20 and with great stats.) I tried going after Carlos Magno, Dede, Lugano, and a few other good defenders but the offers either got rejected or the stupid work permits wouldn't get done. I've had Carlos Magno accept the offer twice, and the work permits stopped me both times! For some reason I tie a lot in this game. I tied against Chelsea and Arsenal and for some reason I also tied against all the shitty teams -_-;; wtf.

Ah ok that makes it easier... here's some guys for you:
Carlo Gervasoni (Italy, DC) Starts at about 22/23 years old, great young defender.
Cesar Gonzalez (Argentina, DC) Same age, even better. Might have probs with work permit though but he's dirt cheap.
Fernando Soriano (Spain, DMC/MR) This guy is fantastic in central midfield... You can pick him up for free at the end of the first season, or very very cheap before that.
Oleguer (Spain, DC) From Barcelona, usually gets transfer listed.
Sergey Ignashevich (Russia, DC) Looks quite useful, could be cheap too.
Tal Ben-Haim (Israel, DC) Already in the premiership, young and good.
Last one...
Nauzet (Spain, GK) Brilliant. He's cheap and very young... already starting for my Parma team and doing a 7.38 on a poor team in Serie A.

Is there a way to just sim the games? Or do you have to watch every single one of your games?

You can take a holiday, and the games get simmed for you.
Tue Dec 06, 2005 11:33 pm
You can't just keep on taking vacations though. Wouldn't that ruin all your rep?
Tue Dec 06, 2005 11:36 pm
Your rep doesn't really matter when you're with someone like Man U. I don't see the point in going on holiday, kinda ruins the whole idea of the game. Actual football managers don't take 6 month long holidays mid season lol.

Indeed lol, I've never actually used it in any CM games.

I've only used it when I wanted to start unemployed and get an offer somewhere. I didn't. Even though I waited soooooooooooo long.
Wed Dec 07, 2005 1:56 pm
Yeah I've never been too keen on starting unemployed... apparentely you only really ever get offered a job at Rushden. Making tactics on this game is quite rewarding, after 3 straight losses I just hammered someone 7-1 away. Good fun.

I got this game. It's great, but it takes forever to load
Tue Dec 13, 2005 1:56 pm
Yea I hate that it takes so long to load and shit. Also, why can't we just sim games sometimes? I mean, do we have play out every single game?
Sometimes I really just feel like doing mangerial stuff you know, not coaching stuff.
