Are the Livestrong bracelets popular outside Canada and the US too? What about all the knockoffs? My school even had some made that said 'Fighting Irish' for spiritwear. I can't seem to figure out why they're so huge, all it is is a rubber band.

There were some rubber bands that came in the Hershey's halloween candy I bought.

All they said was Hershey's.

Livestrong is so fucking popular, that I don't wear it. I wear the white makepovertyhistory band. Even though poverty will never be abolished, I'd like to support that cause

Steve Nash is one of the celebrity spokesman.

I have the Respect To All (orange) and Black & White one. I just got them for free so that's why I have them. I could be fucked respecting a hobo.

I know, but it's not just Livestrong that's popluar, it's the concept of the bracelet. I don't understand it. I mean, I understand supporting a cause like Make Poverty History, but what's up with all the other ones? It's like if you wear one, you're 'cool', so everyone's in on it, like Hershey, or my school, and I even found one that says 'Vollyball for Life'. What's up with that?

Sun Nov 20, 2005 1:45 pm

:ove Strong just means never give up no matter what.

I wear customized rubber bands. But yeah Livestrong seems to be one of the most popular of the generic ones, not sure why but alot of the Chinese kids seem to have it. Lots of people are wearing them as a whole these days just like you point out Cable Guy, I think there alot cheaper than tribal bracelets and bling so its got heaps of popularity of late. As for me I've got -

FOR-FAMILY - Dark Blue
LA-PRIDE - Red
ILM-DRE - White
SAVETHEKIDS - White

Couldnt help getting into the whole rubber band craze myself.

 @ 'Volleyball for life'

I have this education matters one thats dark blue but i lost it, the only reason i had tht was cuz i was free

I know, isn't it awesome. And it's purple too :P. I found it after in the gym after I played basketball.

But yeah, maybe becuase they're cheap people find them appealing. Although, my Fighting Irish one cost me 4 bucks :?

Sun Nov 20, 2005 2:17 pm

I don't have any of them because I'm not a generous poser.

Sun Nov 20, 2005 2:22 pm

I wear one of these rubberbands everyday on my arm.

I had like 50 of those Stand up Speak up bands since I could get them for very cheap from my work for like 50 cents a piece and sold them for like 5 to 8 Euros on Ebay. I made some easy cash there.

The "respect to all" ones are just lame. Not 1 person in the world respects everyone out there.

Sun Nov 20, 2005 2:52 pm

Chances are that you are wearing one right now you poser. Now cancer is a worthy cause but the rubberbands are socially retarded. Anywhere you go anymore it looks like a maternity ward. There may be some people who have genuine concern for others but the vast majority are just wearing them. If you are one of the poeple who care, why do you feel the need to show that you gave a dollar to cancer? I'm sure people will be impressed with your generosity. It's not donating money to cancer or charity that is a fad, wearing rubberbands is. What happened to rugged individualism?

Yup

I guess its just caught on like the tattoo craze that was present for the last 2 years and now that's died down. I really dont see anything wrong with chains, braces, rubberbands etc as long as you dont over do it(wigger style)....if you do call them poser material you might aswell wear a pair of boxers and a vest to work without buying clothes...clothes define a person more than rubber bands. I dunno it maybe different in certain countries but at least here its all about the clothes not if you have a rubber band that says makepovertyhistory or you have a bracelet with ivory blocks saying I love Betty Boop.

Sun Nov 20, 2005 3:15 pm

I hate wiggers, its funny when a white ugy tries to sound gangster,,,,hahaha

Sun Nov 20, 2005 3:18 pm

Somebody is setting themselves up for a date with Jackal. I would edit that post while you still have the chance to hipn.

Sun Nov 20, 2005 3:23 pm

why is jackal a wigger?

Whats wrong with giving a hobo respect? So what if they live on the stret, I mean people on the street are more "ghetto" than you cuz they gotta fight to get a bit of food and suffer in the winters sleeping on the streets n shit while you got a home. And why would you get f***ed respectinga hobo? I bet you if you was a hobo, you'd want repsect from everybody. I bet you if you were asking for money on the street, you wouldnt want pople walking right past you and saying "go f*** yourself you hobo" or "Yeah right im giving anything".

Sun Nov 20, 2005 3:30 pm

Most people who are homeless are lazy ass alcoholics. They get money and they spend it on booze instead of food and water. I have no sympathy for those guys.

Sun Nov 20, 2005 3:32 pm

Yeah, but he said he would get f***ed for respecting a hobo, I dont get that.

Sun Nov 20, 2005 3:33 pm

Alcoholism is a disease... but yes, most hobo's are scum. We have a whole bunch of them around here that walk around the streets all day asking for money, or standing in the middle of the road going up to cars asking for money. Then at night they go back to their cosy shelter where they get new clothes, food, money and a place to sleep. Pricks.

He didn't mean he'd literally get fucked, it's just a term... "I could be fucked" is the same as saying he strongly refuses to.
