MINNEAPOLIS - World Wrestling Entertainment performer Eddie Guerrero was found dead in his hotel room Sunday morning, according to Minneapolis police.
The 38-year-old professional wrestler didn't answer a wakeup call Sunday and didn't respond to a knock on his hotel-room door, according to newspaper reports. Security guards and Guerrero's nephew forced their way into his room and found the 5-feet-8, 220-pound wrestler on the floor, the Minnesota Star Tribune reported.
"This is a huge loss," WWE chairman Vince McMahon said in a statement. "Eddie was a giving, loving, fun-loving human being who had so much to give, he was a consummate performer who will be so missed by his fans."
Police said there are no signs of foul play or indications that Guerrero's death was a suicide, the Star Tribune reported. His death is under investigation.
Guerreo's brother, fellow WWE performer Chavo Guerrero, said Guerrero had battled drug and alcohol abuse in the past but had celebrated four years of sobriety just days ago. He denied drugs or alcohol played a part in Guerrero's death.
Guerrero was in Minneapolis with 60 to 80 other wrestlers to film "Friday Night Smackdown" at the Target Center, according to the Star Tribune.
Guerrero became WWE champion in February 2004 and lost the title four months later.
The WWE said its show in Minneapolis on Sunday night would go on as a tribute to Guerrero.

Probably Riot did it, he was mexican.
Now seriously, I was really surprised by this. I follow the WWE since I was a kid, and Eddie was a great, fun wrestler to watch. And he was only 38

I have a feeling the outcome is due to some substance intake, even though it was denied.

It could have been a murder, the mexicans call Minneapolis "Murderapolis". I don't know if it's because they can't pronounce it or they think a lot of murders happen here.

RIP Eddie Guerrero.
I think he died cause of an heart attack caused by drugs? or too much excitement that he was scheduled to win the world heavyweight championship
Mon Nov 14, 2005 11:22 am
Eddie wasn't that bad, good wrestler..Still, only 38..

when I watched WWE I loved him.
Lie Cheat And Steal
Those low-riders were so pimp.

i watched the press conference and he told his nephew that on the 15th he had been sober for 4 years. apparently he died while brushing his teeth, so it could've been a heart failure. i doubt it was anything drug related, although the abuse he did to his body through drugs and alcohol surely had a contributing factor to his death. he'll greatly be missed, probably one of the best pro-wrestlers in this generation; just sucks how the wrestling business seems to have another young one die year in and year out.
RIP eddie.

Damn man this was a surprise to me but I knew something like this would come in the future with his substance abuse shit. He was one of my fav wrestlers. Funny guy too. R.I.P

He made us laugh, smile, cry, boo, cheer.
Rest In Peace Eddie

Remember, not all drugs are the same. Sobriety doesn't mean he wasn't loading himself up with steroids. Anyway RIP.

R.I.P. Eddie Guerroro, very sad to hear

.
Mon Nov 14, 2005 1:06 pm
yep, the drugs he abused were primarily prescription drugs; painkillers and what not.

Man, Smackdown's really getting smoked now. With Christian leaving and Benoit possibly leaving, Batista gone for a year, and now Eddie. Eddie had the mic skills and the talent to have an entertaining match. R.I.P Eddie

Found out about this last night. Wasn't able to post it here. It was quite shocking when I found out considering he was one of the top people at smackdown. At first, I thought it was some kind of joke but it was on the WWE website.
Eddie did have a history of substance abuse. Don't know if it has something to do with this incident though.
RIP Eddie
Good to see TNA sending out it's condolences to Eddie's family
From what I've read, Eddie was travelling with Chavo but Chavo couldn't contact him. They said that Eddie died while brushing his teeth. Probably because of heart failure

another big loss in the wrestling world....
RIP Eddie

Sad and surprising news. RIP Eddie.

His fued with Mysterio earlier this year was one of the best things the creative team have done in a long time. He was a great performer, one who will be greatly missed. But more importantly, condolences to his family.

The WWE has been really boneheaded in its business lately. From giving JBL that long title reign to deciding to move in a different direction by replacing Jim Ross, coach proving to be a very poor choice forcing them to scramble and get Joey Styles, to disrespecting Austin and losing him after he was going to be a draw for them at least in the short term, to low-balling talent like Christian and Benoit in contract negotiations with one of them leaving and one perhaps soon to follow...they're continually shooting themselves in the foot. A lot of their storylines are showing desperation for ratings and "controversy". I believe Batista's only going to be out a few months though.

Surprising to see Andrew know a lot about wrestling
I heard Batista was to drop the belt in the triple threat match. Eddie might've been the one to get it for another title run. Too bad.
Christian just debuted in TNA btw. I'm actually enjoying TNA better than WWE especially the X-division
Mon Nov 14, 2005 7:45 pm
I never realized that he is dead until I saw some footages of him on tv saying farewell to him!
life is really short. R.I.P to Eddie.
