Sports most un-breakable record?

Mon Nov 14, 2005 6:00 am

What record in anny sport is the hardest to break?

I say-
Basketball- Boston Celtics 8-Straight Titles And Wilt's 100 Point Game.
Football- Jerry Rice's Touchdown Record.
Baseball- Cy Youngs 511 Career Wins.

and who cares about Hockey or annyhting else.

What everyone else say?

hah oh yeah I forgot about that >_<

Oscar Robertson's averaging a Triple Double in a season maybe?

Mon Nov 14, 2005 8:11 am

Chamberlin averaging 50ppg.

Mon Nov 14, 2005 8:48 am

Bulls 72-10 Record

Mon Nov 14, 2005 8:50 am

for baseball, Johnny Vander Meer's back-to-back no-hitters. You realize you would need 3 straight no-hitters to break that, which is nearly impossible, especially today when complete games are rare.

In NBA Wilts 100 point game
In AFL id say Pluggers 1357 goals
In cricket it would easily be Sir Dons 99.94 batting average

Mon Nov 14, 2005 9:53 am

i think the bulls 72-10 is breakable, the 96-97 bulls almost repeated the feat going 69-13.. :D

i think the 100 point is impossible to break unless we see a 8'10, 400 pound center with shaq's power, duncan's post skills and iverson's quickness.

Mon Nov 14, 2005 10:05 am

Cal Ripken Jr. Record.

Mon Nov 14, 2005 11:22 am

50 ppg

I think some SG from the NBA can break the 100 pt record. Kobe got 40 points in a half before, and got benched because lakers was blowing out the wizards

Mon Nov 14, 2005 11:37 am

50something rebounds in one game, W Chamberlin

Mon Nov 14, 2005 11:45 am

Wilt's 100 points, and 50 ppg. I can't see it being broken ever.

Edit: I put 100 ppg initially

wilt didn't score 100 points per game, lol. he did do the latter though

that's still mind boggling, thats an average of 25 points per quarter.
another stat that i don't think can be broken: bill russell's lifetime rebounding average of 22. something

Mon Nov 14, 2005 12:38 pm

I'd have to go with Bradman's 99 average... no one's even got remotely close.

Mon Nov 14, 2005 12:42 pm

cy youngs 511 career victories will never be broken. period.
chamberlains 100 is pretty tough to break. bostons 8 straight is also pretty hard. in college bball, UCLAs 88 wins and 7 straight titles is pretty hard to break. i cant see someone close to jerry rices 200 tds. also nolan ryans 7 no hitters and joe dimaggios 56 game hitting streak is tough to beat. ripken is tough too.

but sereously, going back to the very first one i said, if you are a major league pitcher, pitch 20 years, getting 20 wins each year, you will still be 111 wins short of cy youngs record. that will never be broken.

Yup no-one will EVER come close.. from memory i think Sachin Tendulkar (SP?) was closest and he was only 65 or something like that

Interesting fact.. the Don only needed 4 runs on his last at bat to average 100 for his career only to get out for a duck (for you non-cricket fans thats 0 runs)

NBA - I believe the bulls 72-10 can be broken...not this year maybe not next few years but i believe it will be broken

- Wilts 100 point game wont be broken

Baseball - Cy Young 511 wins..no one is gonna come close

Mon Nov 14, 2005 1:59 pm

Most sky hooks (100 million of them by Kareem)

Mon Nov 14, 2005 1:59 pm

lakers- 42 years straight with 100+ a game average...ended in 1999

saw this during a knicks game as the triva question.. thats a long ass streak

Mon Nov 14, 2005 2:37 pm

Lakers 32 straight wins ( I believe it was) . Almost half a season . Lowest NBA score , 19-18 . Wilt's 100 point game and 50 ppg.

Mon Nov 14, 2005 4:03 pm

Wilt's one hundred points and 50 ppg
Lance Armstrong's tour de france winning streak
Michael Schumacher's grand prix wins and championship records
Michael Johnson's 200 and 400 metre track records
Alan Shearer's English Premier League goals record(taking into consideration the way players move around these days)

Nah that'll be done again.
