Australia Vs Uruguay

Postby SkipToMy_Lou on Sun Nov 13, 2005 6:58 am

Aussies trying to break their damn dought on getting to the World Cup....

First leg is in Montevideo, Uruguay up 1-0 at the half. But Australia have looked the better of the two, Viduka's had a couple good chances.

If the final score is 1-0, it won't be too bad going into the home leg. We can't afford to concede another goal though.

We were pretty lucky only to concede one goal in the end, we got wrecked in the last 25-30 minutes.

Missed the game but it's only a 1-0 aggrgate. Just hope Uruguay can't score over here.

Uruguay has a rock solid defense though, it's gonna be hard for us to score past them...espcially seeing as scoring just one goal will take it to extra time.

I was impressed with Jason Culina today though, was one of the few Aussies who actually attacked Uruguay off the dribble.

I can't believe I missed it... I woke up at 6, saw all of the pre game footage and then the next thing I knew there had been 84 minutes played and we were down by 1. I honestly don't think we've got a chance, that team is alot better than ours no matter how much we try to convince ourselves otherwise. An away goal would've been nice.

Did Diego Forlan play for Uruguay?

And I belive Kewell played... IMO, Coach should have left him in Sydney to rest for next Sunday... but if game experience means a lot more and wouldn't take too much energy... I guess it's ok.

I don't think Forlan played, he's injured as far as I'm aware.

I agree with Jae, I dont think australia has a shot at this. All Uruguay (u-r-gay, you gotta love the simpsons) needs is an away goal and its virtually over.

Kewell played the whole game, very suprisingly...

Forlan started on, but went off around the 18th minute mark. Still injured.

I guess Australia was lucky that he's not healthy. He's a good striker.

He's a very good striker. If he's not playing then you have a little opportunity.

BRESCIANO!!!!

1-0 at the half!

Fuk uruguay are a bunch of pussies, every little chance they go on the ground and pretend there injured.

Kewell started on the bench (cahill and bresciano started on, thompson on the bench)...but came on at the 30 minute mark after Popovich got a yellow card.

A school coach from Brazil once told me, soccer is 90% lying/tricking. This is so true in many many many ways.

Oh man.. this is awesome.

Going into extra time baby. I hope the aussies score one more. Kewell looks tired, maybe cause of just coming back from injury but he's played a very good game so far. We need Viduka to step it up.

Australia's been lucky to be leading right now. They've given way to many free kicks but it's one of the Aussie's best games in ages that I have seen.

C'mon Aussie, c'mon!

Oh yeah... I think the first goal wasn't from Harry's excellence but I think it was a mistake!

Bullshit, Australia have dominated Uruguay...shoulda scored another goal in that 2nd half. Had so many chances to do so, thought Cahill woulda snared one :x

Are you Asian or Australian? You're always "repping" "Azn's" unless Australia win something of course

I'm born australian. I'm asian heritage. I say 'azns' as a joke (if u note the sarcasm I make half the time), sorta. Oh yeah.. i think thats why the asian students dont like me that much.

Anyways... I'm proud of Australia for getting to the world cup and I support them. I've lived here all my life, I don't think I need to justify whether I'm Asian or Australian to be able to root for them. Oh yeah... when did I rep Azn's?

BTW, with the game Skip, Uruguays defence was really good. Australia dominate, Schwarzer did. Man, there were so many moments where Uruguay was just up there and he just stopped the ball... it was good. Penalty shootout: (Y)

When it was in your MSN name for weeks? Also I recall a picture being posted with some photoshopped writing, something about repping "Azn"'s

Or I'm not an Asian going to school? Idiot.

I don't have a social life because I don't "get" a joke from your school? You're fuckin retarded

Edit: Memory recall kicked in, it was "AZN PRIDE"

Cue hissy fit in next post:
