Madden 2006 Franchise: Titans Style

Thu Sep 01, 2005 5:09 pm

After an ethusistastic and motivating opinion from Doug to post a Madden Franchise (actually the conversation went like this: Matthew, "We should post our franchises at NLSC. Doug, "Yah!" :)). So here it is . Its my frst go at madden for pc becuase I just couldnt hold out any longer.

Obviously I chose my favourite team, the Tennesse Titans. I made one move after training camp, and that was to bring in Maurice Clarrett. I gave up B.Kassall for him and 6th and 7th round picks. I needed a backup RB and had Rocky Calmus behind Kassal, so I made the move. I also extended Lamont Thompson for 4 years and signed FA RT Frank Middleton to a one year deal.

Onto the preaseason games:

Vs Tampa Bay
Titans 37
Bucs 19
Player of the game
Maurice Clarrett 6 Carries, 13.0 average, 66 long, 1 td

Vs Atlanta
Titans 33
Bucs 7
Pacman Jones, 6 tackles, 1 INT (returned for a td)

Vs 49ers
Titans 55
49ers 7
McNair, 10/17, 243 yards, 3 td, 0 interceptions.

Vs Packers
Titans 55
Packers 14
Player of the game: Tie!
McNair 15/19, 332 yards, 6 td, 1 int
Calico 8 receptions, 153 yards, 19.1 average and 3 td's.

Remember, all these stats are from one half only. I only play my starters for one half each game

First week of the regular season!
Titans @ Steelers
1st Quarter
The steelers defense came out like gangbusters, forcing a fumble on the 40 yard line. I was able to force a 3 and a punt, but on the ensuing play Steve McNair was sacked for a safety. The score 2-0 Pittspurgh and seemed to be one of these lowscoring games. In the second quarter Keith Bullock forced a fumble on Duce Staley and Lamont Thompson picked it up and returned it 64 yards for a TD. 7-2 Titans.

Then like a slap in the face, the Steelers connected on a 79 yard TD pass to Hines Ward on their very first possesion after the kick off to regain the lead, 9-7. Both teams struggled again with the ball, but then I managed a decent drive with McNair finding rookie WR Brendon Jones for a 33 yard TD with 27 seconds left to put myself back up, 14-9.

Off the kickoff, Rothelsburger was picked off by Andre Woolfolk for a 68 yard interception to give me a 21-9 lead with 2 seconds left in the half. Considering how bad I had played with the ball, I shouldnt have been up. The second half was a defensive struggle, and I only gave up 3 points the whole half. I scored 2 late TD's but missed a 2 point converstion.

Final Score 34-12
Players of the game:
Andre Woolfolk, 4 tackles, 1 int TD
Lamont Thompson 3 tackles, 1 fumble return for a td

I'm 7 games into a Superstar with the Titans. Colin the rookie FS is second on the team in tackles and sacks. I wish I could at least talk to the management about trading players, Kassall is a bum who can't cover for shit. I'm always hawking the TE's if he's in coverage. That Odom dude is a pleasant surprise at LE.

I think I'm going to start a Franchise, Superstar is getting boring and I don't think it's going to get much better. Looks like you have a nice one Matthew. (Y)

Fender, why not post about it here? :)
Colin, a FS? I'd never draft you, not with Lamont Thompson and Tank Williams back there . What round were you selected in?

Ravens @ Titans
1st Quarter

After winning the toss and electing to kick, The ravens started by pounding the ball with Jamal Lewis. Their drive stalled however and I forced a punt. On the ensuing possesion, McNair led a drive that lasted 5 plays. I was going to Calico and Kinney the first 4 plays, then I went deep to Bennent for a 54 yard touchdown. 7-0 titans.

The next series I forced a 3 and out and the very first play after the punt, I lobbed a pass to Courtney Roby, for his only reception. But it was a 61 yard reception for a TD! 14-0 at the end of the first, with the Ravens offense in shambles.

2nd quarter

The Ravens defense started to sink their teeth in. If they start get good production from their QB then they'll be so hard to beat. I got a fg to extend the lead to 17-0, but then Wright threw a slant pass to Randy Hymes for a 56 yard score! 17-7. Then after a small and inneffective drive, the Ravens forced a punt and I was thinking they would come back. That was until Adam "Pacman" Jones picked off a Wright (I guess it was a wrong pass ) pass for a TD. 24-7.

There was no more scoring after that. But here are some impressive stats for the game:
Turnovers:
Baltimore 6 (4 interceptions)
Tennesse 1

3rd down converstions:
Tennesse 1/10 (terrible)
Baltimore 0/7

An ugly game. But a win is a win baby. I'll post some replays later.

I started a franchise with the Panthers, you should post it at Football Freaks. A lot of PC heads over there. (Y)

Throw some pics up, that always adds spice to a dynasty too. Keep this going (Y)

I suggest starting Ben Troupe instead of Erron Kinney. He blocks well enough, and is much faster and a lot more reliable in the passing game. A couple games ago I fed him a 70 yard TD up the middle.

You didn't get as many INT's as me. Versus Jacksonville Leftwich got picked off 7 times. 2 by that talented rookie FS. Drafted in the third round BTW.

Use Roydell Williams. That guy will be one heck of a player. So is will Brandon Jones.
