PSP, worth it or not?

Postby zmac on Wed Aug 31, 2005 7:46 pm

Might have been said/asked before...but anywayz

Im thinking of buying a PSP, should I or is it just a waste?
I dont want it just for the games. And im not concerned about the money, so dont say, "Save ya money for the XBOX 360."

Then save your money for a PS3 J/K!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well for me, PSP woudnt be worth it cos i already hav a iPod Photo 30Gb and a Laptop... plus i dont travel a lot so i dont need it for long distance entertainment

But if you dont have a craptop or an iPod... then it would be worth it, you can even put movies on there wooooooooo!

I've given up on handhelds. I learned that I get bored with them easily plus I don't travel that much anyway coupled with the fact that my brother got my GBA stolen.

name me a console that's had enough quality titles in the first 6 months of launch to warrant it's launch price.. wait another 6 months.. by then you'll atleast have word of a price drop and you'll know whether the psp is going somewhere or is just another NGAGE

Don't get it. I heard about dead pixels being a common issue with PSPs, and dead pixels blow. I have one little black dot on my monitor and even though you can hardly even notice it, it's annoying. Now imagine a dead pixel on a smaller screen.

Meh, I have a PSP, I love it, you can put emulators and stuff on it
(well not annymore, because all PSP's are shipped with the 1.51 and maybe 2.0 firmwire, and Emulators only work for 1.0 and 1.50 so thats gay)
but music and movies, still cool. (oh, and the games that they put out)

PSP has way too little battery life, and currently the games are much worse than the DS. I was playing my DS in my ENTIRE long flight from Chicago to Korea, which is 13 hours, while this little kid playing a PSP cried after the batteries died withing an hour or so. From then on, I was very happy that I got a DS. Also, I'm a HUGE Advance Wars fan, and that's probably my number 1 reason for getting the DS.
Bored.

One of my friends were seeing the spider man 2 movie, after fully charging it, and it ran out of batteries before the movie even finished. I'm quite sure that unless you have some attachment, the battery lasts 3 hours max. For high-end games, the batteries run out even faster.

No, movies are useless on it unless you watch them with the charger in.

So are what are the batteries? AA or its own special ones? And how many batteries does it take?

Also, what do you need for it to go onto the Internet?

EDIT: Okay i searched around and saw that it has a Lithium batter or watever, thats rechargable which is good....even better if you can buy spare ones for no more than $40 (australian $ that is).

But th only thing I can find about the Internet, is that you gotta set it up with WLAN or wireless or watever u call it, and I have no idea how or where to start with that?????

You need the game "Wipeout Pure" to get online.
Or upgrade to the 2.0 firmwire version. If you do that it puts a web browser on your PSP and you dont need wipeout. But if you do that, you can't run Emulators and Homebrews
(I have Firmwire 1.50 and it rules)
