US Colleges

How old are you (typically) when you start university/college as a freshman in the States? 18? So freshmen of this year would be born in 1987?

Sat Aug 13, 2005 3:47 am

I think that's about right. I can't confirm though 'cause I don't live in the US

Sat Aug 13, 2005 4:11 am

I think that when you're freshman in college you're 19, because freshmen in High School are 15, sophomores are 16, juniors are 17 and seniors are 18...
And because when you finish college you're 22.

Most freshman start at age 18.

I'm 17 right now and am going to be a freshmen at UMASS when schools starts. I turn 18 about a month after in October.

about 3/4 of our graduating class are 18, then rest are 17 with a few 19 and 20's.

its really different outside us, i've got friends in China that are going to college, and he's a freshmen at 21, i think its cause of all the testing they have to do, so they have extra years to prepare for it.

wtf, were you some child prodigy or something?

Edit: Nevermind, my ex was born on January of 1985, and she's graduating this coming April, so it's not like you had a super advantage since you were born in February.

March 16th, 2000

I'll be graduating college in 2 months.

Mon Aug 15, 2005 3:18 pm

I started college in September and graduated May of this year. I finish last semester, but graduations are only in May.

4 1/2 years in college. Took my sweet ass time, but I only finished late because I took less classes for a couple semesters than I needed to to finish on time

I used to sit next to a 50 something year old lady in my Psychology class.. she was super nice and let me copy her notes.. amazingly she was number one in the class when it came to grades..

Tue Aug 16, 2005 6:36 am

Why is that amazing? She most likely has to take that one course, while everybody else is stuck with 4 or 5.

What are you talking about.. I was trying to say it's amazing how at her age she's so determined to learn. She had the highest grades out of all the students.. she wasnt only just taking Psychology.. she was doing her social work program stuff.. that's atleast 3 to 4 classes a day.
