Is Marino Great?

Postby MiAmI2005HeAt on Sat Aug 06, 2005 1:14 pm

As Marino Is Getting Ready To enter the NFL Hall Of Fame one question
everybody asks.Is Dan Marino Great Even though he dose'nt have a super
bowl Ring?I think that hes still great no matter what superbowl ring or not.
He has numerous records and just for a ring people are saying that hes
not great put he's good. :)

That's a ridiculous question, ask pretty much any sports analyst and they will tell you that Dan Marino is the best passer ever, and the closest to the perfect quarterback ever. Obviously he's great.

Just because they don't rank him #1 doesn't mean he's not great.

Some rank him no 1. He's the king of stats, that's for dure. Then again, Fran Tarkenton was the King of stats before Dan and nobody mentions Fran as one of the greatest... So it has to do with hype as well.

Thing is, Peyton Manning is on course of breaking Marino's records for passing TDs and total yards... (Y) and he doesn't have a ring yet.

I don't think Peyton has as much of a will to win as Dan, and he can get flustered and throw interceptions at times. Plus Dan's release was so fast, but he still threw so hard. I just saw a highlight clip of him a couple days ago. Plus, Marino had a bum for a running back, while Peyton has Edge. On the highlight clip, he told a story about how he was down by like 3 touchdowns or so, and he thought his coach was calling too many running plays. So no matter what his coach called, he'd change it to a passing play. They came back and one the game. I don't think Peyton could do that.

Given the number of audibles he calls each game, and the fact that he has only so far played in half the games Marino has played, Peyton just might pull a stunt like that in the future. :D
