Philadelphia experiment

Thu Jun 23, 2005 1:21 pm

Has anyone ever heard of the Philadelphia experiment?
Where they make this ship invisible, but when the ship comes back all the people are embedded in it, or chared and burnt and stuff. One of the people made it back alive but went crazy. It was made into a movie.

My friend takes a Photography class, he showed my some pics on how to make stuff invisible. Like the pics in the link, the half invincible.

I'm somewhat familiar with it.
The Philadelphia Experiment is a rumour during WWII. Whether it is true or fabricated, I do not know.
Where they make this ship invisible, but when the ship comes back all the people are embedded in it, or chared and burnt and stuff.

As what the link said, it involves the use of very strong electromagnets (magnet by ELECTRICITY!), about the size of a building or lighthouse, thus the embedded and charred people is not a surprising result IF it did happen.

They were trying to make the ship 'invisible' to electromagnetic sea mines, so that they wouldn't explode...

they tried to make it so that the total magnetic field emanatic from the huge coils would negate the electromagnetic field naturally produced by the ship's metal and elecronic devices...

So noboady actually trie dto make the ship invisible to the eye, just 'invisible' to the mines' detection system...

As for the myth, there are many natural and not so natural explanations , that are too long to list. i actually studied the whole phenomenon as part of a project I was involved in during Uni... but I'm too bored to start mentioning everything now...

One interesting thing: That ship, the "Leon" as it was renamed after being donated to teh Greek Navy many years ago, was scrapped and its metal used to make razorblades... So you might actually be shaving with the 'ghost' ship right now for all you know...

I respectfully think it is all bullshit.
