Fifa 2006?

Sun Jun 12, 2005 10:28 pm

Been waiting to see what EA's plans are on the next FIFA game. Lemme know if you heard anything :)

Sun Jun 12, 2005 10:47 pm

I just got Pro Evo Soccer, never looking at FIFA again. The gameplay is amazing.

Sun Jun 12, 2005 10:56 pm

Pro Evo Soccer? I've never even heard of that lol! What I look most in sports games is reality and authenticity, I found that in Fifa 2005. I'm gonna do a search on Pro Evo, btw I'm talking about Fifa on Xbox. Only pc games I play are live 05 and call of duty.

Sun Jun 12, 2005 11:00 pm

Yeah I mean Xbox too... the Pro Evolution Soccer series is generally seen as FIFA's more realistic, less flashy cousin. The only downside is that there are some team licenses missing, they have the entire Italian/Spanish league but with the English league you have to edit the team names but that's it. Otherwise it's pretty much perfect gameplay wise.

Sun Jun 12, 2005 11:04 pm

Shit man now you got me wanting to play it. I'm gonna rent it today and try it out, I love the Fifa Series though. I'm gonna buy it when it comes out for sure, but now that you mentioned Evo I'm deffinately gonna look into it.

I never thought it could get more realistic than FIFA.

FIFA is fairly arcade like in comparison... I guess the graphics are the big selling point. Give Pro Evo a try and see what you think though Y)

Sun Jun 12, 2005 11:09 pm

Yeah man I will, thanks :)

Sun Jun 12, 2005 11:43 pm

Yeah I gotta check out Pro Evo, is the new one out on computer ?

Sun Jun 12, 2005 11:49 pm

Last I checked the newest one was Pro Evolution Soccer 4, I'm sure it should be on pc too. Check out http://www.gamespot.com

Sun Jun 12, 2005 11:58 pm

Yep Pro Evo 4 is what I got, but on Xbox. I think the PC version has alot of updates and things so you don't have to worry about the licensing issues.

Mon Jun 13, 2005 12:01 am

Also... I would edit but I'm on 32k connection lol.. Skip are EB Games having huge sales down your way? Over here they've got 50% off nearly everything, I mean Madden 2005/FIFA 2005/NBA Live 2005, Playboy Mansion etc all 50% off. Shit loads of PC games too, i couldn't believe it.

Mon Jun 13, 2005 12:04 am

playa if they have that kind of a deal here I'd be campin outside their doors smokin a fattie

Mon Jun 13, 2005 12:11 am

Speaking of which, not surprisingly the store was full of fatties  it was like trying to walk through a field of marshmellows or something. Took me 45 minutes to get to the desk and ask if they had Football Manager 2005.

Mon Jun 13, 2005 12:17 am

lmao, kinda like walking through a McDonalds on a Friday evening. Oooh Football Manager 2005, is that available for Xbox?

Mon Jun 13, 2005 5:03 am

I think it's coming out for Xbox, I know Championship Manager 05 or whatever it is is out on PS/Xbox but from all reports it's shit. I'll just get some more RAM and buy FM on PC (Y)

How do you guys find football manager?
Over here in Englnd its a real popular game and highly addictive, a lot better than any of the game in thechampionship manager series which I used to favour

Sun Jun 26, 2005 3:46 pm

I usually find it in stores :D

I haven't been able to find anywhere that sells it unfortunately. I still play CM 01/02 all the time though.

Mon Jun 27, 2005 1:31 am

Juz thinking are Winning Eleven series are the same Pro Evolution Soccer too?
W.E series are awesome too guys...far more better than EA's Fifa (Y)

Mon Jun 27, 2005 1:57 am

I think that WE is the name in Japan, and PES is the name in America/Europe. So, yes, they're the same :P

I bought it... it's shit indeed. Chelsea loses to 3d division clubs frequently

Mon Jun 27, 2005 11:15 am

Winning Eleven or Pro Evo to Europeans, I rented it and tried it out.. I personally think it sucks balls. I like Fifa much better also the fact that its more realistic when it comes to authenticity. Thats a huge thing in my opinion.

Tue Jun 28, 2005 4:04 am

You can always patch Pro Evolution Soccer and make it even more authentic than FIFA. Pro Evolution Soccer is way better than FIFA in terms of game play. Plus, FIFA just copies Pro Evolution Soccer anyhow. All the things that FIFA has now, just look at the past Pro Evolution Soccer/Winning Eleven games, FIFA just copied em.
Remember the W bashing running system? After seeing that the pro evolution running system was way better, they just copied the PES one.
Remember the stupid shooting system that if you charged it up it would go into a super kick? After seeing PES's shooting/accuracy system, the folks at EA copied that too. The shooting bar works EXACTLY the same. The power for free kicks and stuff will correspond to PES.
What about having the ball seperate from the player? PES/WE had it ages ago, back in the age of PS1 not PS2!! This obvious concept that makes the game a million times more realistic wasn't incorporated into FIFA until way later...I believe friggin 2005.
There are other things like this but I can't think of them right now. So if you play a FIFA game, you're playing something that is at least TWO generations behind the current PES game.

After playing Winning Eleven 6/PES 1 I realized that clearly PES was the superior choice and never touched FIFA again. (Except to try it every now and then to see if EA Sports has learned...but no...they don't learn.)
When does the FIFA license expire? I'd like to see EA Sports try to sell FIFA games without its exclusive license as WE has done for ages. If the license became non-exclusive, then WE would sell a whole shitload more than FIFA.

Tue Jun 28, 2005 4:13 am

If the rights to all of the teams/players/jerseys/stadiums/competitions etc were sold to whoever makes Pro Evo/WE that game would explode. FIFA's big selling point is the fact that it's fully licensed, nicely presented and has real actual songs playing in the background. Pro Evo has very few licenses, shit music, shit menu presentation but the gameplay is far superior IMO.

Tue Jun 28, 2005 6:01 am

Well I shouldn't of said it sucked balls, just that I rather have a game with more authenticity and shittier gameplay than no authenticity and great gameplay. Just my preference. Although I do agree if PES/WE does get more authentic it will be very very successful. Maybe one day it will.
