Favorite Cities

For the traveller's out on this forum, give us a little insight on the cool(or not so cool) cities you've visited.

I'll start with my hometown -- Boston. I love this city. Since I don't have preferences to seasons, it's great to really experience all four a year. The Boston Common area is a really great place to walk around, and the food is awesome(especially the seafood). Not to mention the die-hard sports fans you'll meet here. I hope to keep living here when I'm older.

Sydney is a pretty awesome city if you get the chance to go there(though there are plenty of Aussies on this forum who can vouch further for me). I went their during it's winter, which was my summer. It's extremely clean, has some great walking-around areas, and the Opera House is, by an architectural standpoint, really a wonder to walk though. I was there for only two nights, but I got a really good vibe while I was in Sydney.

New York, for me, is a place to get away to for a few days. I could never live there. The food there is fantastic, espcially in the Village and Little Italy and the night life never ends. Maybe it was because the hotel that I stayed in last time was in the heart of Times Square, but that city would eat me alive. It's also expensive as hell, unless you plan on living off of hot dogs and Ray's pizza.

Los Angeles is, in my mind, the West Coast equivalent to NYC. The air is stuffy, the people have attitudes, and it's HUGE! But I did have a fantastic time there during Spring Break. It's weather is absolutely perfect if your preference is 70-80 degrees Fahrenheit. If you're driving on the highway, you'll probably end up seeing some ridiculous houses and if you ever go shopping you'll probably end up seeing some of those people who live in those houses. I love it though.

Vancouver, my hometown - Mountains in the winter, beaches in the summer. It's absolutely beautiful and it doesn't get extremely cold or hot.

New York - Just so mcuh to do and so much happening. Living there, maybe not so good, but great to finish.

Chicago - Deep dish pizza.

Miami - My favourite warm place to go. Nice beaches, nice restaurants. Miami Heat.

Beijing - You guys gotta go there for the Olympics! The city has become cleaner and I imagine, two years after I went there, that it has gotten way cleaner than when I went. The markets are a great cultural experience, the tourist attractions are of great historical/polital significance and the people are good. I mean, it's a whole different place because I fit in cause I look asian and you there are so many of you if you get what I mean. The experience would be different if you don't look asian because they stare at you. Without that kind of celebrety type aura around yopu, you get to expericence something special!

Barcelona: Great great city. Food is incredible, many many things to do without feeling like a lame tourist. I love everything about barcelona.

Hong Kong: Take Times Square and make it Chinese, and you have Hong Kong. What a beatiful city with amazing food. You get a great feel for Eastern Asia, and the city has a great feel to it.

New York: My favorite city in the US. I love the feel of New York, I like big cities myself, so New York is perfect for me. I love Central Park, I love Times Square, New York is kick-ass.

Chicago: I live a block away from the west side and 3 blocks away from the L, so Chicago is my home. I love Chicago, I love the Lake Front, so many things about Chicago are great, and I'm going to miss it when I move.

Indianapolis: Clean, nice people, Pacers, Colts, need I say more?

New York, NY - Ain't no place like it. It wasn't a good place to live at all, but I visit all the time. Still a great place to go, have friends there from 3rd grade that I see alot, Luckily they're all doin cool right now (Y)

Los Angeles, CA - I love this place, so much action, plus I have family there. As a great man once said:

"It's the City of Angels and constant danger
South central LA: can't get no stranger"

Miami - I'm either moving here or to LA when I get older. hot weather, nice chicks, and far away from my parents.

SAN ANTONIO!-Because I hate their basketball team!

Wow if you like San Antonio because of their basketball team, you need some help because that's one of the best cities in the US and no.3 on the most visited city tourism wise. So that's one of my favorite cities;

PHOENIX- It's very quiet and they have good food. I like the hot weather and it's just real nice about it, I would rather live there than LA basically because its the same kind of environment but cleaner and more quiet. They also have nice houses.

CHICAGO- Even though the only times I've been to Chicago was in the winter, but it's still a good city and I've enjoyed myself there.

DALLAS- It's an ok city compared to San Antonio and Houston. More rednecks there, but I spent most of my time downtown in Dallas so it was nice as well.

HOUSTON- I love this place just like I love Phoenix. It's scenery is real nice and its more blacks in this cities than any of the other Texas cities.

ATLANTA- What more can I say? It's basically an all-black city and it's all about clubbing and partying from what I've seen when I was there. Some nice looking asses there too

There are alot more cities I've been to, but I've never been to LA, Miami or New York and my family is planning on going to one of these places this summer so I'm really going to be looking forward to Miami because of Katya (the Miami Heat Dancer) can spend some time alone

I've been there a few times and I agree, my grandparents used to spend their winters down there. Ever spend time in Tempe? It's like a suburb and has a lot of ASU students (or whatever uni the Sun Devils are.) Nice place.

Argh... this will take a while:

I've travelled to over 50 countries, and have liked almost all, so it shalt be hard to limmit this to less than 100 cities.

Lets start off with where I like now, Honduras:

La Lima - A very layed back, American constructed city. The night-life is amaizng if you know people. We just hang out, drink, do drugs and such in large groups. The locals are amazing.

San Pedro Sula - I live in this city now. It's the commercia; centre of Honduras. There are lovely discoteques, and some good restaurants... it's not a safe city, but I do not mind living here too much.

Utila - Island off the coast of Honduras. Best place in the world. Backpacker island with open minded people from all over the world. Cheapest diving in the world. The night-life is amazing, bars, clubs, etc etc etc... and all with its share of amazing people and stories.

Copan - Amazing Mayan ruins.

Israel:

I'm an Israeli citizen, and having lived in Israel for 7 years... I have a couple of favourite cities.

Karmiel: Probebly the cleanest city I have seen in my life; and also most drug ridden. It's a nice place if you want to have a good time, or go to a cultural event (lots of folklore), but living there would make anyone a junkie.

Tel Aviv: The capital of life in Israel. A million clubs, shows, everything... It's a small version of NYC, but without all the commercialism and unnecessary bullshit.

Russia:

St. Petersburg: I Was born in lovely St. Petersburg. Beautiful city, lots of historical and cultural data.

I Shall just put every European capital here... Been to all, loved all... they tend to be taunted a tad too much by tourists, and therefore dirty and not as enjoyable... but each city has such historic importance, that it makes up for all the shite.

Some non-european capitals:

Lucerna, Switzerland : One of the most beautiful forests I've even been to. Amazing nature.

Barcelona, Spain : Amazing arcitecture, and even better people.

Asis, Italy : Such a simple holy city, I would live there when I'm old.

Bristol, England : Nice nightlife.

Bloux, France : Nice small town, very lively atmosphere.

Some other world cities:

Cairo, Egypt : The pyramids speak for themselves.

Newark, USA : Props for the airport and the great transportation system.

Antigua, Guatemala : One of the most amazing historical cities there are. Lovely backpacker atmosphere.

Tikal, Guatemala : Amazing Mayan ruins.

San Salvador, El Salvador : Great recreational and diplomatic life.

Panama City, Panama : Just because of how amazing the canal is.

Well, this is my list... I've left out way too many cities, but... c'est la vie.

Perth: Im gonna go out on a limb here and say that Perth is a less exciting version of Vancouver with less scenery and more wiggas. Nice place to retire though. No traffic congestions and such.

Vienna: this place is perfect, i've had the pleasure of being there in winter & summer. The good thing about European cities is that you can walk because everything is close. Cars aren't a necessity, just get a bike. The city is really clean and has a lot of things to do at night...especially if your into the opera, arts, museums etc

Sydney: Australias biggest city and it has plenty of things to do. It's fairly clean but the road infrastructure is terrible. Good for holidays, dont know if i'd like to live there though.

LA: the air is terrible, the people are fake, everythings about money. not a place i wanna live, too commercialism to the max....everyone wants to be either famous or screwing someone famous.

Places i'd wanna live.....Seattle, Portland, Vancouver.

Actually, can someone tell me what's better...Vancouver or Toronto?

Couldn't sum up LA any better. Apart from the fact that the only people who are friendly to you are always trying to sell something. I liked Nantes, it was kinda cool and I managed to walk around at 3am feeling completely safe and meeting other drunk Australians. The women are amazingly gorgeous too, I've never been to a place in my life where every girl I saw under the age of 30 looked great.

I went to Chicago, and got a Picture at the MJ Statue.

Green Bay, Wisconsin - I went there to visit relatives, about 8 or so years ago, I got autographs from the gayest football team ever, the Packers (My Mom likes them, I like the Raiders), it was alright.

Las Vegas - Never really did anything, I was like really little but like in 94 or something, some dude got caught on fire or something then tried to jump off Circus Circus, I can't remember.

I also visited Jessica Alba.

I wish I visited her.

haven't visited that many places around the world....only really NZ and East Coast of Australia....hopefully get to Europe in next 2 years....

either way, I'll add to the list....a few from New Zealand....

Auckland (N)
I didn't really like the place at all....got my wallet stolen at Big Day Out a year ago, so maybe that put a downer on the place for me....however, I just don't like the feel of the city at all....the infrastructure is not very good IMHO....probably worst city I've been to....

Wellington (Y)
although I wasn't there for long and the place is very windy, I did get a good impression from the place....people seem pretty cool and am keen to head back there and catch up with a couple of mates I've got there....

Christchurch :|
my birthtown, a normal person would give it a (N) but since I'm from there I just couldn't rate it badly....nightlife is pretty shit, women are pretty average and it has a dull feel to it....however on the positive side, it is called "England outside of England"....can be nice and serene....is probably a good place to stop into for a day or so before heading down to Queenstown or around the South Island of New Zealand....

Nelson (Y)
the only time to go there is during New Years and surrounding days....people pile in and the place goes off....some quality beaches within an hour or so as well....probably pretty crappy any other time apart from New Years....it's probably NZ's Byron Bay from what I've heard of Byron Bay....is a town, not really a city....

other people will cover Aussie cities so won't bother covering anymore....
