Time travel in the future is theoretically possible according to Einstein's GTR. It involves bending the time-space continuum via wormholes, altough it's only a theory. The means are far from available at this point.

Travelling to the past is much more difficult, and is not even theoretically supported by any current scientific theory.

'ACCELERATE TO' being the key words here. The very speed is impossible to overcome, but the fact is that the closer you move to the speed of light, the less 'time' you experience to go by, in relation with others moving at regular speeds. So it is not really 'time travel' , rather a diffwerentiation of the 'experirnce' and 'effects' of time on you.

The grandfather paradox is more interesting: Let's assume you travel back in time and kill your grandfather. If your grandfather was dead, how did you get born , in order to go back in time and kill a grandfather that does not even exist?

Sorry to burst your bubble, but Einstein's Special Theory of ralativity has been experimantally and mathematicaly proven... but then again, they said teh same thing about the Newtonian gravity laws some centuries back...

travelling faster than the speed of light would require human beings to acquire a new perception of time. So speeds like that might generally exist, but our mind was not made to even begin to comprehend them, so it's pretty much a different universe for us.

could it also be possible that, if time travel were possible, the abilities of the tourists from the future were somehow limited/prohibited to such extent that they could only observe our present world, rather than alter it? (maybe in another dimension that's why we cannot see them and they cannot change the past)

Physically restricted? Not likely... Wilingly restricyed? All it would take is foe one of them to break those rules and it's all common knowledge....

Another dimension you say.. Interesting, because time is considered to be the closest thing to the mathematical 4th dimension... So if we could travel through time, in a sense we'd be 4-dimensional ourselves...

I've thought about this a few times, and come up with why should anything happen? If you actually go back in time, you are there as a physical body. And since you are there as a physical body, then there you are, just like any normal person. Whatever you do in the past doesn't affect anything because you are not direcly affected by the events or actions. The the same shoud go for when you go Back To the Future©...

People back then announced that they had discovered and invented everything in physics. Every formula, constant and so on... But ok, 100 years is maybe to little--- Let's say 500 or something like that then; it's not the point in how long, but that we always seem to prove ourselves wrong in the areas we so strongly teach and advocate (did someone say advocate? ). People thought the smallest thing in the world was the atom. People considered the four basic elements fire, air, water and earth. People thought world was flat. People thought that the earth rotated around the sun. And so on... It's a rather big list.

Yes, the Quantum Foam theory, were the wormholes I mentioned before are being creating constantly in the atom scale, allowing for a single atom or pozitron or whatever to appear to be in two places at the same time...

True, but as long as we are looking for answers we might as well acccept that there is an end to our quest... The end could be near, or we could not have been farther... You never know, all man has to do is follow his inexplicable calling and continue searching deeper...

the theories on time travel own. I've read many because it's such an interesting topic.

Like, if you went time it would be impossible for you to kill your parents, because then they wouldnt give birth to you and you wouldnt have existed and thus could not go back in time.

I like how if you travel at the speed of light (theoretically) a minute would equate to a much longer time on earth. So you could kind of fast forward into the future....babbling now.
