Other video games, TV shows, movies, general chit-chat...this is an all-purpose off-topic board where you can talk about anything that doesn't have its own dedicated section.

Has anyone ever thought of joining NLSC and dotorg, and maybe 4th-quarter/nbafiles into one central Live site? Live is pretty much the only EA game with multiple major mod sites. MVP has MVPmods.com and NHL had cyber-nhl, but now DMD is the main one.
I know there has always been a bit of a rivalry between the big two, but wouldn't combing the two be more beneficial to everyone. I assume it would mean splitting costs for servers, but if it did happen, the site would be able to offer the best parts of both sites, like the experienced patching team of dotorg with the file hosting abilities of both nlsc an nbafiles, as well as the increased forum community. Moderating ideas become much easier, and ideas created on both sites can be used without accusations of stealing.
Is this idea impossible?

If I remember it right, David (headmanager @ .org) already tried to join together with NLSC but failed by unknown reason. I'm not sure about the idea though, I like it just the way it is.

I don't think it would work. There are too many different personalities in charge of their respective sites and coming together as a group doesn't seem quite possible at the moment from my point of view. Would it rock? Yes. Will it happen? Not for the time being.
Besides, I don't see why having this many different NBA Live sites is a bad thing, all the sites have their respective visitors & the sphere by each Live site is different. It gives people a choice. Variety isn't a bad thing.

I was never approached with an offer to merge the two sites or anything like that, which is why it never happened.
EDIT: Just to add to that: I don't think there's anything wrong with having multiple websites, each contributing to the community.

So Filip has a bad memory
On topic: I don't think it would happen. At least in a couple years.

No, and I don't have a bad sense for math either
I remember a big argument with David involved where he claimed that he tried to put the two big sites 2gether, or maybe I got it all wrong. But that's the way I remember it.
Anyway I agree with Jackal and Andrew ->

Just because that's what David said doesn't mean that's what actually happened.

People at .org annoy me.

Tupac fans annoy me.
This isn't meant to be a spark for site bashing. If anyone feels like doing that, don't do it here, go cry into your pillow.
What is it about Live fans that have this hostility and intense competition between websites with very few differences? None of the other EA mod sites are like this. and they solve way more problems to improve their respective game, whether it be gameplay or patching. There must be some reason for these dumbass rivalries? There are few, if any flame wars, people don't steal patches, and the number of dumb newbies is limited on those sites. Do Live CDs come covered in violent hallucinogens like angel dust or mayonaise?
We can continue to have a number of pretty good sites or have one kickass site thats much easier to maintain.

It's not just the sites, as you'd probably be aware the .org crew were once a part of the NLSC... something happened, they took off and decided never to come back unless they wanted donations or to get annoyed at someone. As I said the whole thing goes deeper then just the websites, it's all of the people involved aswell.
Mon Mar 28, 2005 5:51 pm
I think it is possible but little chance. I remember I was supposed to be an NLSC member but then I became an .orger. Then now, 4th-Quarter.
Mon Mar 28, 2005 7:31 pm
But that was your choice Mikki, while I was still trying to get everything setup through SportPlanet. Unfortunately before the server move, I didn't have control over a lot of things that would have made site maintenance and team expansion a whole lot easier.

I didn't mean everyone at .org annoys me. I meant there are lots more FrankCastles and MikeBibbys at .org, and they annoy me.

I think things are fine as they are, both sites offer different things plus why fix something that isnt broken?
