Instant Messengers Battle

Sat Mar 26, 2005 3:44 pm

Here in the USA, we have Yahoo Messenger, MSN Messenger, AOL Messenger, ICQ, among others. However, in China almost all the computer in the net cafe are equipped with an instant messaging program known as QQ. If you don't have it and you live in China, people look at you weird...

My favorite, not necessary the best, is Yahoo Messenger. It combines the best features and it has everything MSN offers. You can leave messages to your buddies even when they're offline (with MSN you can't do that) and you can archive all your conversations (MSN archiving gives me headaches when I go back and look at it) and it is very very user friendly.

1+ Yahoo!

Cast you vote.

Where I come from, it's not cool if you use anything but AIM.

I'm way cool.

During lectures, we have an instant messanger system which is better than MSN, Yahoo, ICQ etc.... it's pen and paper, the advantages to it is that you can read what they are gonna message you before they send it.

MSN < ICQ = YM < AIM

Anything with AOL in it is definitely not cool :P

Me too, I use Skype to talk to my sister (she's in another city), and MSN to talk with my friends

Most Canadians I know use MSN, most people I know in the US use aim (including me).

Most chileans I know use MSN (ICQ is kind of obsolete here).

I use TeamSpeak to chat with friends (while playing NBA online and stuff). That program is really cool, you sink a go-ahead 3pt in the 4th quarter or block your friend's nasty dunk, and start screaming "OH YEAHHHHHHH!" while playing.

It's nice. :P

Heh, I remember when ICQ was extremely popular, but then somehow MSN became the preferred use of instant messaging. Too bad ICQ Lite didn't come out earlier :|

most people haven't heard of msn here. most just use yahoo. i use both msn and yahoo. most people on my msn contact list are just people i've met in forums

ICQ is probably the best designed messenger out there, just no one uses it really.

Main thing I like about it is that you can leave messages, and when you close the chat window you can go back into it and your message will still be there.

main thing that i hate about it when i want to send message i need to move my mouse do the send button and theh it will send a message. With msn it's better, just press enter

You can just press control S...

And also in the new ICQ they have a option so when you press enter it sends the message, but I haven't enabled it because when you type long messages you can't put breaks in the message :x

With ICQ 99 (the last ICQ version I used), you could press tab & enter. It would tab to the send button and you could press Enter or Space.

You can just press control S and it will send.
