I've got terrible ankles.

I've sprained both ankles at the same time playing interschool competition. Which took me out of action for a couple of weeks.

I've also copped an elbow to the forehead, which cause a hemotoma (spelling) you, that swelling of blood under skin. :|

I've fallen backwards on a tree branch while playing outdoor basketball  , thankfully only walked away with a huge scar.

Last Spring I got hit in the elbow with a Metal Baseball bat, it didn't hurt but it sounded nasty, like metal on metal. It was broken and I had ot wear a cast and sling, but I was only out for 4 weeks. I couldn't play baseball but I could play baketball still, I could practice my one-handed layups :)

They didn't do that to me, the thing that hurt the most was trying to buckle my seatbelt with my arm broken while trying to get into the car to drive to another town to the hospital. It was a Friday night too (N)

Basketball wise, I've sprained both ankles twice and that's not a whole lot of fun. The worst injury I ever sustained was a severed tendon in my foot when I was three. I stepped on a broken bottle half-buried in the sand at the beach and it sliced right through a tendon. Fortunately I don't remember a lot from that time.

The injury I remember the most that made me lose my hops was jumper's knee. I was able to dunk at 16 at 5'10" and I was a very versatile player, kind of like a Grant Hill/LeBron James combo, then I got jumper's knee. I was forced to play like a 39 year old Michael Jordan, but fortunately I'm a good shooter so I was able to grab that MVP award at the end of my high school years :)

My left ankle is injured now, it happened about 4 weeks ago when I was playing ball. For the first 4 or 5 days I couldn't walk at all, then it got better and I could at least walk and practice a little outside.

Now its ok I can walk perfectly, but my jumping is just gone. Normally I can dunk my school rings with ease, now I am no where near dunking it. Lets just hope this isnt permanent

wow, I can't believe how long some of you guys nurse injuries.
I've never been injured playing basketball, but football wise, I've had a ton.
In my first year, I sprained my ankle twice, and broke my thumb on someone's helmet.
In my second year, I dislocated my shoulder and knee in the same game, and broke two fingers later in the season.
In my third year, I got a concussion, which was my 3rd (had 2 from hockey) and a couple sprained fingers
In my final year, I broke three bones in my right hand, and dislocated my knee again.

this many injuries did take its toll, but it wasn't as hard as you may think to play through most of them. Taping things up over and over really helps. I think I've used about twenty rolls of tape in those four years, and I could usually stay in the game. The only time i missed games was after my concussion, and afetr I broke my hand. It turned out that I broke my hand twice in that game, but it was alreadey so heavily taped, that it wasn't painful until I broke the other two bones on a later play.

The downside of all of playing through those injuries, in a position of offensive lineman/linebacker, is that my doctor todl me I shouldnt play anymore. This kind of sucks, because I did get scouted and recruited by 3 universities, including York, which made it to the Vanier cup, Laurier (where I could have gone to play with my best friend and had a pretty nice scholarship) or at McMaster. Of course, playing for a Canadian university most likely does not lead to any sort of pro career, so its not a huge loss.

And one final note, contrary to popular belief, chicks do not dig scars, broken bones , hideously swollen appendages (excluding maybe one :cheeky: ) or casts/crutches.

nothing serious, but people have a way of running into me all the time. Just last night at a game during warm-ups I was playing some quick one-on-one with a team mate and he tripped. The first thing to hit the ground was my knee. I walked around the sideline for a few minutes then came back in and when I went to get a rebound a different team mate charley-horsed me in the thigh.

Mostly it's just little things like that every god damn day.

very correct. girls are not attracted to guys who is always in the bench nursing injuries or has battle scars. only a true love would stay by yerside during tough times

but we guys have the warrior spirit with in us and being bang up really feeds my ego knowing that i did my best to play and also bang other guys up. hehehehe

actually i never get to punch someone since late high school. im worried because i might lose some of my skills in hand to hand combat. but no worry. just have to be fierce when the need calls for it.

ankle injuries takes about 6-8 weeks to fully heal and you have to train it again to be back in shape which can be up to 6 months. trust me been there

on court, I'm lucky to say that the worst injuries are bumps and bruises from taking charges and diving for loose balls...

No serious knee/ankle injuries here...
