How to RECOVER reformated hard drive? (PLEASE HELP INSIDE)

Postby MC Hao on Sat Jan 29, 2005 8:18 am

i have two hard drives. i use one for operating system and the other one for saving anything work or movies or music. so recently my operating drive is acting up and i decided to reformated. then i remembered i didnt save some important files after i reformatted so i was like FUCK! so i went on to search for data recovery tools to recover the files and i found a bunch of them. then i tried to use them, every single one says install on the drive that didnt have the lost data so i was thinking "hmm how can i do this, i dont have window on my file drive. wait, oh yeah, install window on the file drive then." so i did it. but only found out later everything was wiped out on my file drive. so i was like muthafucking shit fucker cunt bitch shithead asshole fucking so fuckingpissed as hell. so now i need to use the data recovery tools to recover my file drive as well, if they really work. i am using VirtualLab Recover v3.4.1 right now trying desperately to recover. so my question for you helpful people with good hearts in NLSC is: is there a better program out there? is my program gonna work for me? has this ever happened to you and how did you handle it and recovered your data?

anything would be helpful, really. thanks very much.

It depends how its been reformatted, If you used quick format when you reinstalled OS, then the data is still there. But if you did the other format, which is actualy binary code(0's & 1's) that writes over everything on the disc, then your data is gone for good and no matter what software you have it ain't recoverable.

im not bursting your bubble or anything but Im a computer engineer and my analysis to your situation is if you wont spend big bucks on data recovery company then say good bye to your files. Happened to me thrice and our client at my repair store made up their mind that the data in their HDD isn't worth the big bucks to recover it. Usually ranges from 300-1500 dollars.

file scavenger is working really well, but it will take a very very very very very very loooooooooooooooooooooong time to recover, not all, but just the files i'd like to get back. but so far i've recovered all the important files that i need. so i guess its ok now.

I accidentally deleted a 2gb flick right after I finished downloading it. I used "Active @undelete", I was stunned at how fast it worked, I was dealing with Rar files as well.

The only time you need to pay somebody else the "big bucks" is when the actual hardware is physically damaged. He quick formated his drive which means that the data has not been rewritten and is still recoverable using basic software, so WTF are you talking about.
My analysis of your situation is, you should fire yourself immediately then re-train, preferably in some kind of janitorial area, as you've no clue how to fix a computer.

My analysis to what you just said is you need to find a new line of work buddy becuase its not lost forever.

Jamal,
You should be able to restore back to any date 3 weeks prior to when you Reformated. If your Computer is the same as mine it should be in the Recovery icon in your System Tools area. I have reformated my computer and then Restored back again to fix viruses. If that doesnt help make sure you make backup CD's of anything really important in the future to keep from having this problem.

yeah as if that was a high paying job nerd.

i like my job and like he said he used a 3rd party software so guess its alright but he can never recover any more files like the whole drive itself. we have a recovery software here but we never used iit on clients because they wont just pay that much we want them too. burning CD's to back up is a pretty good idea indeed.

Hi,

If you really wish to restore lost data I recommend using Active@ undelete tool. It worked simply great for me, it was always able to restore my files and never corrupted them. This is your real chance, try it.
