Happy Home

Postby Tuomas on Tue Dec 28, 2004 7:46 am

Are you happy with your home, your hometown and your homeland?

Our house sucks. It's built after the war and it's 50 years old an our parents use all spare money to repair and renovate it.

Our hometown sucks. They got nothing here and it's cold as hell. Right now it's only -15c but it feels surprisingly cold, the heating isn't how it's supposed to be.
right now I cannot play any basketball since there is only one sports facility and it's closed now. We cannot play at school because all teachers hate me for playing bball. I'm supposed to play hockey or something. We have about 50cm snow here now.

Our homeland sucks. There is no basketball culture what's so ever. How serious is it? I've never seen a Jordan basketball shoe in my life here. I think I'll move to Spain or somewhere where I never have too see snow again. I hate it. Although in a couple a days I will go even more up north and ride with snowmobiles, that's pretty fun

I'm pissed as you can see :x

Waht about you? US: don't answer, I don't want to know

Canada is teh pwn. Especially Vancouver. Doesn't get too hot, doesn't get too cold. During winter temperatures are from just above freezing to 10-12c. And right now it's bright and sunny. I might play some basketball after I type this. And if I wanted I could go up the mountain and snowboard. There's 120-odd cm of snow up Grouse and I actually will be going tommorow. In the summer it ranges from 20-30c and there is lots of sun. I can go to the beach and swim nearly every day. Too many people like hockey though...

The House:

The house itself is pretty small, but comfy. I dont have any problems with it, except for the fact that it are 4 houses under 1 roof so I cant play music to loud or dribble the ball cause it can drive my neighbours crazy. Another minor problem is that I live like 30 minutes away from my basketball facility, and I have to go by bike which can be anoying. Specially after practice when youre tired.

The city

Hmmzzz....kinda small compared where I grew up in. There live about 18.000 people over here and the centrum of the city is kinda small. About 2 good sneaker stores over here but the prices are still insane high. If you go to the clubs, you always run into alot of people you know which is fun.

The country:

I dont like the Netherlands, I dont like the food, the language, most of the people...almost everything. The people over here are VERY greedy and only do something for you if they get a profit out of it or something else in their advantage. Only your close friends over here are not like that. I barely have any family over here and that is shitty during the holidays.

The thing I like about this country, is because its multi-racial. Most people over here are white, but there are alot of blacks, Asian, Arabian, Indian etc.

What I hate most about this country is the lack of NBA games over here. There is 1 way to get NBA games legaly over here other then some super expensive dish reciever, and that is Canal+. You pay about 30 bucks for all the latest movies, all kinds of porn and 2 NBA games a week, they also pick out the shitiest teams possible like Sacramento or New Jersey. The announcers suck, I met once of the announcers ones in person and he sucks even more in real life.

I will probably move back to Poland when Im older, to live with my family and get all the hot bitches I want since everyone is a slut over there. My dream is to move to the So Cal but like I said...Dream...aint happening.

I've always had a dream of moving to Spain or Miami but I doubt it will happen

I really can't come up with a worse place to live (the western industrial ones)

I also have the problem of the lack of NBA games... I get one game per week from canal+ and it's a San Antonio game almost everytime :x that's why I hate San Antonio and Duncan

Out house isn't quite as old as that. I think it's about 25-30 years old as is quite nice. We have a lot off renovation on it through the years. And it's really nice, I'm very comfortable here and I'm not sure if I'd like to move out for some time...

I'm quite happy with the town I live. It's not a big town (80-90 000 people) but quite it's alright. I'm planning on moving to a larger city in a while, maybe go there and study. But for now it's just fine. Not great, but it's alright... Not much basketball here. The last time a Jordan shoe was sold here was when the 13's came out for the first time

Sweden is a great country if it wasn't for the huge taxes that is. But I guess if it wasn't for the high taxes we wouldn't have such great health and school programs...
Basketball is getting quite large in Sweden now as of lately. It has been really quiet in the past, but it's getting better. We’re gonna have out first All-Star game in got knows how many years now in half-a-month I think, so that's good I guess...

I had no idea what that was until I looked it up after you wrote it

Our team is keeping it low... really low...
We were supposed to go up to the second division in sweden this season, but since several players won’t away, we choose to stay in the third division, and then just before the season started we only had like 7-8 people practicing regularly, so there is no series-play this season. And we only have one practice a week now, so we’re keeping it rather low this season... Hopefully I'll get healthy and stuff so I can play with the juniors then (1-2 years younger than me) but whatever, it's still games :)

damn, that's exactly the same as our place....although we are building a new house that is way bigger.

Hometown: Perth (most isolated city in the world :( )
Look at out city, it's pathetic in size....it's great when your retired but not for when your in the prime of your life. As far as bball, we got good competitions here so that's cool, and you play all year round.

pic of Perth city

Homeland: well i live in Australia so i might as well bitch about...my biggest gripe is no NBA....you have to get cable to get NBA, theres no NBA on FTA...instead we have hrs upon hrs of boring cricket, AFL, golf, car racing, horse racing, netball.....everything except actual sports.....SBS though shows Euro soccer so that's cool, but that station is pretty much run by Euro's or sumthin.

Can't wait to go back to Poland for a holiday nxt year....just 6 months away[/url]

I live in Adelaide, which is in South Australia for you foreigners. I've just moved here from Newcastle (the home of Andrew, and various steelworkers) and this place shits all over it. There's more things to do (not that I actually do any of them), the people are nicer (and less inbred) and the public transport system is fantastic.

As far as my house goes, it's a one bedroom flat... so it's only a little bit smaller than Buckingham Palace, though I think my bathroom is bigger.

house: average sized; doesn't really matter though just as long as it's close to my friends / mall / movies / school / clubs i'm good.

city: sadly the city i live in has a reputation for having extremely slutty teenage girls (surrey, bc) .. but still, it doesnt undermine how nice of a city it is.. pretty clean, lots of recreational areas etc. i like it

country: canada (vancouver to be exact) cold as shit in the winter and hot as hell in the summer. great mountains too for snowboarding.. i wub it :) (Y) 8-)

I really like where i live. Good people, good suburb. Not much happening, but alcohol and friends fix that. I play basketball all year round. Sometimes gets too friggin hot, but it's better than it being too friggin cold. My house is awesome, it's got a bar. (Y) Came with the house. Although we don't really use it. We have a lot of cool shit in our house (except for cable internet and NBA on tv. :() But i'm not that fussed. If you came in our house you'd say we were rich. But we're truly not. We're only just managing. Chicken. Star. Banana.

Heh, I like Surrey jokes. Not to offend you but...

What's the most confusing day in Surrey?
Father's Day

How do you circumcise a Surrey boy?
Kick his sister in that jaw.

I used to think Surrey was this awful place, then I went there for something and I was wondering what everyone had against it.

Home:
Both of my houses(my parents...) are about the same size, fairly large actually. Average for my town, large for just about any other town around me. My mom's is old and it still has two-prong outlets, and few outlets for that matter. But it's got a nice location -- walking distance from the barber, bagel shop, video store, and pharmacy. It's only a 5-minute drive from my dad's and five minutes in the opposite direction to the local mall(not really a mall, but I'll get to that later).

My dad's is nicer -- had an addition about five years ago. It's not really in walking distance from anywhere, but we own some nice woods out back. The grass grows fast though, which is a bitch during the summer. It's about a 2-minute drive from the nearest beach, which is nice.

Town:
Hate the people, love the location. It's on the water, has a yacht club, fancy restaurants, and a redone town hall. For those into the latest American pop-culture, it's pretty much like "The O.C." except across the country. It's filled with divorcees, trust fund kids, and CEOs. Anyone who plays hockey is treated like God, and anyone part of the yacht club is also, treated like God.

Just recently, there was a large outdoor mall built. It has about twenty designer clothes outlets, along with one of those giant bookstores, which happens to have a Starbucks. All day, housewives pop in and out by way of their SUVs. Ughh -- it sickens me. The area has an EB games though, so that's pretty cool.

Homeland:
America? Please, I'm getting tired of these religious nuts deciding the future for our country. Anti-Darwin bastards they are. All of New England, along with New York, should separate themselves from this "Land of the Free, Home of the Brave".
