Roger Ebert - Many filmgoers are reluctant to see documentaries, for reasons I've never understood; the good ones are frequently more absorbing and entertaining than fiction. "Hoop Dreams," however, is not only a documentary. It is also poetry and prose, muckraking and expose, journalism and polemic. It is one of the great moviegoing experiences of my lifetime.
Camazing wrote:Oh brother where are thou? was a pretty sweet movie, with George Clooney, based on Homer's The Odyssey and had lots of banjo-ish, bluegrass music. Pretty funny too, if you watch it a few times and the sense of humour appeals to you.
The movie I've watched the most times though is definitely My Dog Skip. It stars Frankie Munich, about he is really small and picked on all the time, then he gets a cute little dog and it becomes his best friend, then he makes friends with the dudes who picked on him and starts going out with the hottest girl in town, then his neighbour Dink who was a super athlete gets back from war and becomes a drunk, then Willie (frankie) gets in a fight with Skip but then there is the sick dog hospital scene, and then it is a happy ending. Makes me almosteverytime I watch it. Ahhh, what a great movie. I actually stole it from a friend about 3 years ago.
