Italian journalist brutally killed..and now the French!

His name was Enzo Baldoni, he was in Iraq as a missionary for the Red Cross to help iraqi people. As a journalist, he often took distance from the current italian government and its mission in Iraq. He was against this war and was only trying to help iraqi people.

He was captured a week ago. After few days the terrorists gave an ultimatum to Italy: 48 hours for the italian army to leave Iraq. After 48 hours and few minutes he was killed.

Why? He was against this war, he was helping the red cross. Why????

Irony is that Italy and Iraq are playing today for the soccer bronze medal.
If I was the italian team, I wouldn't play. I know the Iraqi team has nothing to do with this, but still..........This is phucked up, I can't believe it. These crazy people don't even understand who's against them and who's helping their people...they just phucking kill everybody.

LOL, no they have not. There not movies, no CGI budget.......... if you get you head cut off, trust me, your dead!

I understand why there upset, but Journalists are considered neutral. Then again when innocent Iraq's are slaughtered and taken hostage by US soldiers in the middle of the night and the Journalists do not report the real storys about the real war, what good are they, this is why there no longer safe in Iraq.

Yeah, its terrible! Especially when there are people/countries around the world that need real help. 60% of Bangladesh is under water, their population has risen from 50 million to 140 million in less than 10 years, there in trouble out there and they need the World as a community to gather resourses and go and help, or at least send some Condoms and some buckets. Same with Iran and the huge earth quake that killed 125,000 people last year. Its funny how the US are quick to send Soldiers to kill people but not so quick to send them to help without the need for the use of bullets!

Why is there still a large Occupying force in IRAQ? Why are these so called terrorists really kidnapping people and executing them? How do you sleep at night after cutting off somebody's head with them screaming for there lives?

The people of Iraq are suffering, their homes are destroyed, family members slaughtered by US Gun fire, which is dispersed so randomly by trigger happy nervous 19 year old US soldiers in fear for their own lives. Eldest sons and Fathers are kidnapped by the so called allied forces and taken hostage, 15,000 to date, held with out charge and not as POW's. Theres not food, water or electricity except what the AF hand out. 5 hour cues for US check points every where they go.They have no security what so ever, the people of Iraq where a hell of a lot better off with Saddam, they would have him reinstated instantly if it got rid of the occupying Army that pollutes there lives.
All they have to live with is FEAR, HATE & ANGER*** and that can be turned into a powerful weapon.
I sound like a sympathizer, but im not, i don't agree with any of it, the whole situation is nothing more than a shortcut to damnation**............. but i also think the word “Terrorist” in regards to Iraq from the peoples perspective could be confused with the word “Patriot”*.
Why is there still a huge Allied Force occupying Iraq? They have Saddam, why are they still there? Could it be that WAR is worth 180 Billion Dollars a year? Or could it be that Iraq's economy is dominated by Oil, which provides 95% of foreign exchange earnings?

I guess I did over-simplify with a somewhat melodramatic statement. I'll clarify:

Whatever "crimes" or "sins" Enzo Baldoni may have been guilty of, whatever bad things he might have done (insulting a classmate at school once, perhaps?), he was not responsible for the turmoil in Iraq. And yet, he has suffered because of it. In that respect, he was innocent yet suffered for actions that the resistance in Iraq (those actions being the war) are responding to. He did not begin the war, support it or go to Iraq to aid it, but he died because of it.

Now, I'm not suggesting that anyone involved in the war deserves to suffer that fate, and perhaps that's what my original post sounded like. I'll rephrase:

I could put forth a solid argument about his innocuous status in Iraq. As a missionary he is still there as part of the Coalition, which makes him part of the occupying force in Iraq, with or without a weapon.

BUT, regardless of what you, I or anybody else says the poor guy is still dead!

Look at the french journalists now. France has been opposing this war quite strongly...to a point where some of its products (like Wine) have been boicotted in the US.

Still, terrorists now have two french journalists and they asked the French government to cancel the approval of the new law that prohibit headscarf for muslims in french schools.

What's happening is that whenever they capture someone, they use it to obtain something from his country...whatever country it is...as long as it is not a muslim country.

Still, something makes me think. If the western society is so free as we proclaim to be, then why a muslim shouldn't be allowed to wear whatever clothes his religion dictates?

Because the truth is that we are also fighting a silent war against a religion. We don't kidnap and kill people for it, but we kill their freedom in someway. Which is totally different from what terrorists do, but I guess that both parts have to take their responsabilties for what is happening in the world.

During the match against Argentina, the Italian team had a black ribbon on their jerseys to remember this journalist.

They had it also for the Soccer bronze game against Iraq.

At the beginning, Iraq was supposed to wear it as well, but then they said that although they were sorry for the italian journalist, they don't forget that there are hundreds of Iraqis murdered every day, while the Italian was just one....so they didn't wear it.

Also the olymipc authorities declared that wearing a black ribbon is against the spirit of the Olympics games


About the French: it seems that Al Queda ask the iraqi terrorists to release the french, saying that "we should not forget that France strongly opposed the war in Iraq, went against the US and never took part in the war"

well, I'm pretty against that law, but there were really a buzz months ago when young girls refused to remove their headscarves at school. The media took the story, coshed it, and the Governement had to make a choice. That was maybe not the best solution, that was surely taken in bad conditions, but whatever, now there's a stupid law to make a rule at school.
