cheerleaders in the olympics?

what's your guys' opinion on this? there was an incident a couple days ago where cheerleaders were brought out for a certain team to root them on.. might've been the united states beach volleyball team (correct me if im wrong). anyways, it ended up causing a lot of controversy making a lot of other athletes feeling uneasy and offended.. so yeah what is your opinion on this? should they be allowed to put on a show or no?

personally i don't think they should.. don't get me wrong, i'm all for cheerleaders but i see where these athletes are coming from.. to them the olympics is everything and having these girls on the side could be a huge distraction which in return would probably throw them off their game.. some of these athletes have been training for years just to go on the world's stage and exhibit their skill and talent at the best of their abilities for a mere two weeks.. they want the spotlight to themselves and who can blame them? they've worked long and hard and definately earned it. having cheerleaders there is kinda like a slap on the face to the athletes.. in a way it's pretty much telling them that anyone can be at the olympics.

Oh, to j.23, who brought the girls? If it was the volleyball team, I don't think it's a good idea to do that. Do you have an article or something to read more about it?

It was contreversial because they were in Bikini's Dancing...Yeah...

You usually see properly dressed Cheerleaders...but women doing splits and lifting their legs...>Er... :shock:

having not seen the cheerleaders in person, right now i'm against and im supporting the athletes that were offended

however if i was there i'd probably care less about the athletes and be cheerin on the ladies

I think that happened in Chiacago or some team. They had some fat guys put up a show so they could be "different", yay :roll:

They also had some young guys do something and it was pretty impressive. Has anyone seen this?
