Ur brushes with the supernatural!

Tue Aug 03, 2004 9:02 pm

ANyone have any stories...

I have- it's led to believe in ghosts...

Well.. my grandfather died back in 96.... and my grandmom and uncle kept his ashes. When they moved they took his ashes with them and moved to Tweed (IN Australia).

Their house is huge, and is three levels... on the bottom level there's this small room with no power. That's whjere my grandmom and uncle put my granddad's stuff there. His pictures, books, old chair of his and his ashes.

In 2001- I was sent down there to stay for a week. It was winter and I had to sleep in that room. I don't know bout that night but it was cold and I was tired. I went to sleep quickly and later something strange happened...

I was talking to my grandfather. I don't think I was fully awake at the time but I remeber talking to him. I didn't understand what he said to me. He was talking in the chinese dialect of Hakka....i speak cantonese. Man- I was shit scared and when I reached my hand towards him I woke up and didn't see him anywhere.

What was scary was that I was standing and two steps away from my bed. Shit- I havent forgotten that night. It still makes me shiver to think about it...especially as I'm typing this.

After the night I told my uncle and he didn't believe me. But my cousin told me that my second cousin also saw him a few months before I did. Then when my chinese aunt went to sleep there...she told my mom, "I saw Dad."

So I'm convinced ghosts exist...

But I need help- anyone who has a similar story or can help me explain this/wat has happened...can u please post? I tlaked to many ppl already- but noone has an answer...and this is for real man- I'm not pretending...

I haven't had any such experiences, but I do know of a website - The Shadow Lands - which deals with those kind of experiences. Perhaps you'll find the articles and recounts that people have submitted useful.

Tue Aug 03, 2004 9:56 pm

damn, thats some dope stuff. honestly id love to have the chance to experience something as deep as that. even though its scary as hell.

Tue Aug 03, 2004 10:40 pm

I guess you won't accept "dream" as an explanation, huh?

Tue Aug 03, 2004 10:51 pm

I had a dream involving me, Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Alba, Angelina Jolie and a whole lot of lesbian experimentation. Just thought I'd mention it.

Tue Aug 03, 2004 10:52 pm

thought about that too, Rens...dunno, it IS weird but i think it could be true. alotta people experience something like that. ususally i dont really believe in stuff like that unless ive seen it/felt it/witnessed it whatever... but if that really happened i hope ill get the chance to contact someone close to me that died, too.

In a completely random fashion, that reminds me of this Red Meat strip:

Sorry to go a bit off-topic now...

... but it happened to me this year, a very interesting thing which I think I never reported to anyone here.

As you can remember (I made a thread about it, called "The old laughing lady came briefly across my door"), in October of last year I had an emergency surgery on the appendix and was alone on the hospital for two days, until someone from my family arrived there (I felt bad and had surgery on a city 900 km far from home as I was there to do a presentation on an article I published regarding my uni researches).

When I was alone in the room, in the hospital, feeling bad as hell, with 15 stitches in the right side of my belly, fighting to sleep some minutes, I dreamed, and my mother was in my dreams. She died in 1988 due to breast cancer. She told me everything was goin' to be ok. She didn't say much, and I remember I tried to ask her why did that happen to me. She said I did some things which were not good to my family (I won't go as far as to say what I did, but yeah I did it and I know what it is), and that I had to realize their importance to my life & all.

After this (and I also remember I told you guys that, in that same thread), my grandfather got seriously ill late in November, and had to have 2 surgeries in less than a month. In one of them, he had half his stomach taken out. He lost like 35 kg because he didn't want to eat. He never wanted to leave his bed and eat to get better again. He got depressed. People were are saying he was goin' to die.

One day I came to his home to visit him, and he was in the same mode. I left his house saying, "man, this is probably the last time I saw him, he won't last more than a week". One aunt of mine, his sister, even dreamt their mother (my grandgrandmother) and him were taking boxes out of a empty house. In the dream, she (my aunt) came to them and asked, "why are you doin' this?"... And he (my grandfather) said, "well, your mom moved to another place... and I'm goin' with her"... Man I can recall the shiver I had when my aunt told me that.

I had lost a very close uncle earlier in December, and I remember comin' home, takin' a bath, devastated, and goin' to bed, then I remembered I had to do something in my power... Well I prayed that night. I'm not preaching some wicked shit or anything, but that worked for me, at least that night. I prayed to my uncle, asking him to not let my grandfather go, at least not in that time. My grandfather appeared to me in a dream, telling me he loved me more than anything in this world, and that he would forever be there for me. I prayed day after day, and guess what, it worked. My grandfather got progressively better and now, nearly 8 months, he is the same old guy I love, again. All the weight he lost, he got it again. He's healthy as hell, a very good health for someone who is 84 years old, making jokes, riding his car and all.

I'm working my butt off this year to graduate in time, and I know this is goin' to happen because good things happen to those who work hard. I'm doin' not for myself, but for my uncle whom I lost year, and for my grandfather, who hopefully will go to my graduation day. If I did graduate last year, my uncle wouldn't be able to go (because he died in December, and the cerimony is held in January of the next year), and my grandfather, too. So I think things happen for a reason.

Making this post was a therapy for me, actually when I was typing all this I kept remembering the situation I was in and I'm crying now.

So if this stuff may have never happened to some of you guys here, believe me, it's because the right time hasn't come for you. Because it happened for me, and now I believe that SHIT HAPPENS.

Wed Aug 04, 2004 6:42 pm

man- if you dont believe me it's ok... some do, some don't!

I have thought about whether it was a dream but i've never sllepwalked before so I do think it did happen. At first I did accept as a dream until a few months later my aunt claimed she saw him too....

Wed Aug 04, 2004 7:03 pm

Man Tales- I'm happy for you and your grandpa... good luck!

Well- I know there are many stories going around...

I'm sure people know of the House of Winchester? Does it still exist? And the great Houdini tried to preve ghosts were real- u should read about it. For Australians...do u guys know about Fisher's ghost? It's a good story.

All of these are only stories that people claim have happened.

But I got my english teacher who told me a story about his two friends...he doesnt believe them but his friends do...

I'm sorry I can't write this now- I may be a scardey-cat but I am real scared...honestly. I will write it tommorrow. I actually have heaps of stories to try and prove why I am me and why I am so scared of these things....I'll tell you tommorrow in the day...when I will less likely be frightened...sorry guys :(

Wed Aug 04, 2004 7:10 pm

maybe u were sleepwalking :D

Wed Aug 04, 2004 7:25 pm

Man- OK...i'll start now:

My parents told me that chinese people believe that the unborn baby in the womb would come in contact with the supernatural in many ways.

My mom had a freind and she was 8 months preagnant with me. Her friend was dying and my mom had to visit her. With me in the womb, unborn, this to some asians was 'dangerous' and this is wat some of my friends tell me...is the reason i fear ghosts... because i came in 'contact' with them while i was unborn!

Some people tell me that children always have more of a sense of these things and that most people lose this ability as they grow older. But some people keep it. I wish that I never had the experience I had. As I am writing this I am too scared to look behind me.

It's been a while since I have thought about this stuff. The only things that get this of my mind is Basketball. I think I got a bit of a problem so I might see my school counciller tommorrow or something.

And to propulsiondj...I only wish I had sleep-walked

my former high school teacher experienced this last week: (this took at around 5:30 pm)
she was in the "College of Science and mathematics building when she saw something running very post in the hallway... she looked at it and saw a supernatural being(she never explained to me how it looked like), so she prayed the "Our Father" and the being disappeared... She then went to the room that she was supposed to go to and when she opened the door, the being was there, looked at her and mocked her by praying the "Our Father"
naturally, the teacher ran....

im sure many of you wont believe what i just said but i dont think she was lying...

Wed Aug 04, 2004 8:05 pm

First of all, you say that you only dream about it. So it could possibly be a psychological situation created in your brain. You have to remember that everything we feel and hear (all of our senses) are analyzed and controlled by the brain through electrical impulses. So that could be the reason why you felt like you were touching the person and hearing the person speak. But when you woke up, there was nothing there. And that makes perfect sense. So I agree with you. You should go see a psychologist or a counsellor.

And if you don't believe me, try contacting the person when you're not sleeping. If that's possible, then I might change my mind. Or maybe I would say that you have schznophrenia (i don't know how to spell that).

If that happened to me I'd go "don't mock me, fucker. At least I'm not dead" then scream like a bitch and run

My old football coach told us that his house was haunted. He said once that he was sitting on his couch(damn, I have chills now) and all of a sudden he saw his dog bark. His dog was looking at the stair case. The dogs head looked to be following something that was going up the stair case and then coming back down. :?

He also said that once his mother had a picture and it fell off of the wall so she went to pick it up and put it back but it already was back up.

I remember reading that animals are supposed to be more aware of supernatural beings. A study was once conducted at a house that was supposed to be haunted, with certain animals being placed in a room with an empty chair. They all reacted to the chair: the cat hissed, the dog barked and growled, etc.

For the most part, I'm a skeptic, but I can't offer any explanation for such behaviour.
