For running shoes it isn't the outside that matters, but the inside of the sole that does, for years manufacturers have been messing about with shoes to create the best sole to match the runners style & terrain
This latest upgrade by Adidas has a new microchip , the Adidas 1 [wow, what a cool name. NOT!]. It works by measuring the compression in the heel with each step. The 20mhz [yes it really is as fast as Apples 1996 Newton MessagePad 130] processor does some math and adjusts a 2-inch cushioning element [plastic tube]. The battery lasts 100 hours or 600 miles [no free MOT]
All this will set you back 250 USD a pair [about 180 GBP when its released in the UK]. Hmm Mini Ipod or new trainer - tough choice
